What if the One-Eyed Oracle is right about hyperinflation? WTF are we supposed to do? Do you think he's right?

>Dr. Michael J. Burry, the hedge fund manager who made hundreds of millions of dollars betting the U.S. housing market would crash and helped inspire the best-selling book, “The Big Short,” predicts Weimar-like hyperinflation in the U.S.

From a /biz/ perspective it's a good thing. Hyperinflation means that hard assets (including crypto) become more valuable, even independent of the inflation, from people fleeing the collapsing dollar and escaping to something better. This means that bitcoin will likely outperform even the optimistic projections, in terms of nominal dollar value.

Before, my estimation on the peak was 100k minimum, 200k optimistic. But because of all this, a 200-400k range wouldn't surprise me in the slightest

Meme ones get dunked on. Commodity producing ones follow hyper inflation. They're usually the more boring ones. People don't need an iPhone, but they do need food, steel and electricity to make and move items.
I looked into the historical data of the market during hyperinflation cycles, and I'm moving $60k USD from my credit union to my e-trade because I'm not expecting a housing market scoop anymore. I'm buying heavily into SO/SP based on their dividend payment history during tough times, and meme buying into Bayhorse because I've made a 60% return this last week off them and I believe in physical silver futures. That's my plan fren.

People saying to get into hard assets are half right. Putting your wealth into hard assets will preserve their value relative to the global economy, but domestically you will still be faced with extreme costs of living and still be losing. Take Venezuela for example. People in hard assets didn't lose their wealth, but their domestic buying power still decreased dramatically where they have to pay 4x for food AFTER adjusting for inflation. Hard times are coming for Americans. Your best hedge against inflation are going to be long-term leveraged assets. It's time to take out a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage and have an exit plan whether that be hunkering down with a supply of essentials or moving out of the country.

No, it's not. It's because central banks are buying govt. issued treasuries to keep the yield down (otherwise the governments will go bankrupt by paying so much yield). But the governments are so much in debt right now that the central banks have a hard time buying up the extra govt. issued treasuries so they print money so the govt. won't go bankrupt. People have no idea that they're already paying for their governments going bankrupt and when that will happen, hyperinflation will occur because the value of their currency is significanty lower than what is actually projected.

most examples of hyperinflation occured in marginalized economies or economies otherwise kicked out of the systematically important global trades, zimbabwe an example of the former, weimar of the latter
now the global reserve currency, every economy of note both consumer and producer is suffering from the same problems at once
you have to hyperinflate against something and in todays world all major currency get devalued at roughly the same pace, and international trade isn't denominated in either gold or crypto
the current predicament will continue on as now, that is print to infinity. this will continue until the first nonreplaceable supply chain breaks and then stores will simply be empty that not hyperinflation thats downright collapse

>Property taxes are set by local municipalities.

They can also change the rules at any time. The only thing you can be sure of is that they will attempt to block or heavily tax every escape route, since the point of inflation is to seize your wealth to restore government solvency.

For this reason expect property taxes to rise, and to start hearing about federal property taxes. I know there's supposedly legal roadblocks but they're really more speedbumps. SC will just rewrite the law for them to be kosher, without overturning it, they don't want to have another 20 justices added after all.

They can always change the rules, nothing is off the table.

Californians that move into Texas are very unhappy with their property taxes. They don't realize that TX homeowner tax revenue is there in place of state income tax revenue. It's definitely going to go up this year.
