It costs over a million dollars to be a validator. The bridge fee is a flat 100 ftm which won't scale long term. It claims to be a dag based smart contract chain but I go to their explorer and see block ids. It's been a year since launch and there's only like 34 validators. In their wallet UI their fSwap doesn't work and shows negative numbers sometimes. Their whitepapers read more like marketing buzzword soup instead of providing formal protocol specifications. Their original founder keeps tweeting about it randomly as a scalable Eth L2 alternative. Seems like he's pumping it not because it's the best choice for YFI gas fee reduction but rather because he wants to get rid of FTM bags.

I bought 1m of these under a penny a couple weeks after they ICO’d... I now own 17.5k of them. I feel you brother. I was way into Fantom in the beginning, but all of the major FUD surrounding it really got to me. I ended up leaving crypto for about a year and came back to find Fantom floating around a penny or two. It also seemed as if Andre had moved on from the project entirely to ETH. My biggest mistake in that moment was feeling vindicated for selling when I did, because it had only gone up a few X’s. Nbd. I completely ignored Fantom until about a week ago, and I dumped all the money I made from flipping literal BSC scams with $400 up to about $10k... I got super lucky, but it feels like FTM may give me my opportunity to make it. I would love to have that 1m stack back after the due diligence I did, but unfortunately that’s not how the game works. Re-buying something you previously had way more of is hard... but I feel good about FTM. It might be worth rebuying and riding the ship up.
