29554252 No.29554252 [Reply] [Original]

can we take a moment to appreciate how fucking amazing bitcoin is? I know its old news, everyones on to the latest worthless shitcoin, but the more I look into the it the more I realise that this is not just digital gold, this is people flocking to an alternative to the dollar. Its the fraying of the global reserve currency manifesting at the level of everyday citizens; its almost like a pure materialisation of general Will. I unironically think bitcoin will become a global reserve currency alongside a few other strong currencies.

who the fuck wants such a shitty alternative? basically, it's the opposite of what people want from a currency. It's fueled by nothing more than greed, e.g. buy some and then dump on next gen losers. I wouldn't hold even the tiniest amount of value in it. deflationary currencies are pretty much only good for pump'n'dumping.

What I've realised is that BTC really is old tech that failed to even accomplish the main goals of the Bitcoin whitepaper. It hasn't proved itself as a hedge against anything significant in the economy, its price isn't doing better because of inflation narratives but because of halving events along with undesirable ideologues, spammers, criminals, Russia and China (centralized miners) all behind a trillion dollar industry who benefit from BTC for criminal purposes mostly so pump it by spamming Twitter and everywhere else with cult-like fanaticism.
The fact about the dollar's use rate for criminality is misleading as BTC is used essentially entirely for criminality and that will never change.
BTC will never scale or be updated safely to adapt to quantum computing. The Lightning network is risky and people will just use other cryptos or CBDC's to buy things, never BTC.
The electricity input required will be questioned and seem when other cryptos eventually outpace it past an order of magnitude higher in technological advancement and have more efficient protocols, (POS etc). BTC will seem like a steam engine vs combustion engine, completely ancient and outdated in people's eyes. A joke.

It's a scam, but a scam that might somehow work purely on meme value, which would be a pity. Huge, useless mining infrastructure wasting energy on an outdated technology of solving pointless and stupid math problems.
Bitcoin was never supposed to be "digital gold" according the whitepaper. BTC probably hijacked the real Bitcoin if it's not just a complete failure. "Digital gold" is a cope for the fact that BTC can't do what it was made to do: complete microtransactions seamlessly and cheaply.

>BTC is used essentially entirely for criminality
false, its main use is a store of value, its second most popular use is for money changing/remittance

>BTC will never scale
>The Lightning network
the main "2nd layer" solution will be bitcoin banks which issue their own tokens fully backed by bitcoin reserves. This is already happening.

>The electricity input required will be questioned and seem when other cryptos eventually outpace it past an order of magnitude higher in technological advancement and have more efficient protocols, (POS etc)
From a quantity theory of money perspective, higher operating costs (PQ) of PoW and its inherently slower velocity means a higher money supply, ie itll accrue long term value and be attractive to investors. People dont question the energy input of upholding the entire dollar system, but theyll point at bitcoin without realising that a huge percentage of that power is clean energy. Miners choose locations which produce excess electricity that cannot be supplied to the grid due to lack of infrastructure and would otherwise be wasted. In China this means a lot of rural hydroelectric dams, in the US it means utilising otherwise vented natural gas. PoW is proven.

They don't call it a "surveillance coin" for nothing. The day I learned governments are able to blacklist addresses on transparent blockchains is the day I sold all my BTC, something this vulnerable to fuckery will never be trusted enough to become "digital gold."

and that's a bad thing, cause CBDC are fully tracked by the central banks and will be programmed to burn themselves if you don't consoom fast enough
