It's also made it easier to average down so when it inevitably comes back up you can turn a bigger profit than you would have initially. I put $150 into AMC initially. I did that when it was at 15.30. Not the greatest turn of events since then, yeah? You know what I did? I put another $50 in after it went below 7. Now I'm averaging just above 9. What that means is once it gets over 9 I can actually turn a profit. What you should have done is set that grand aside with the intention of investing it, but done so in increments. Spend your first 200 or so of that grand on your first batch of shares. If it dips/tanks? Cool. Invest another 200 and you get more shares for your dollar. It dips lower? Invest more and get more shares. You see what I'm saying? Your average by the end will be so low that it's almost inevitable that you turn a profit at some point.
If you aren't sold on the fundamentals part, consider this: AMC is the largest theater corporation in the world. It's not gonna go bankrupt. If it looks like it will, someone is going to buy it out 100% because it owns a fuck ton of real estate. When that happens, your shares will be bought with complete certainty for more than you bought them for and at the end of the day you'll still have profited. The most likely scenario is it moons over the course of the next year after all the theaters open back up and more films get released.
