Is paying for your kids to go to private school (K-12) worth the investment?

I went to a private K-12 but I don't know how bad public schools are so I have nothing to compare it to.

>> No.29484422

>>29484343
Look at the demographics for the public school and that will tell you if its good or not. Pretty obvious.

>> No.29484550

Public schools are fine. Pick one that's rated well. 99% of your child's school success will come from you, you have to push them and set expectations. Teachers don't do much more than hand out what they're going to be reading that week, it's still on them to read it.

Met people in uni that went to public schools, while some were ok I wouldn't send my kid in one unless I couldn't afford a private school

I’d probably force my kid to go to public school. It’s a shithouse but if you make it out alive without a heroin problem you’ll be much more emotionally healthy.

Likewise, friend. Private school kids live sheltered lives and it’s a positive environment until the real world — depression seems much more prevalent in private school kids.

100% this. If the public school is 90+% white, send them there and do your part in educating your kid (i.e. being involved *daily*). If it's less than 90% white, spend the money and send them somewhere it is. Your children are the only reason to make it, and it's only worth it if they grow up to love themselves and their blood. Priorities, anon. Priorities.

This. Anyone who consider throwing money to a private school is either too rich to care or too lazy to take care of his kids

Britbong here. I went to a grammar school, those are selective but only exist in parts of England such as Kent because our Socialist government ended them elsewhere for some idiotic reasons.
Can't imagine going to a public school. Must be atrocious.
Are American 'charter schools' similar to this or something entirely different?

In California, public schools are good if they’re majority Asian. Anywhere else, schools are good if they’re 90+% white.

No, a kids friends have more influence than their parents.

The difference between private schools and public schools depends on the demographic of the area, and private schools are more engaged on the success of the student because of smaller class sizes.

You can't do much to max your children's intelligence. Intelligence is like 90% genetic in a calorie and comfort maxed society. School is glorified day care to teach your children to be good wagies while you're out earning wages to consume and pay taxes. If you live in an enriched neighborhood, pay for private school, it'll be well worth it for your children's safety and sanity. If not, there's zero evidence that private school makes them any better off. It may make things worse for them since their competition is on average smarter than public school.

Definitely private school. The kids at private schools are almost always from better families and thus they are better quality kids. Public schools are for dumb and poor kids. Just don't expect the private school to raise your kids, but at least they'll be having better teachers, food etc. People who say you should put your kids to public school so they could experience the "real world" are like boomers who kick their kids out at 18. The fact is the rich put their kids in better schools so the kids start at a higher level and thus can reach even higher levels. Just make sure the school itself is good because not all private schools have the same reputation.

Demographics are the single most important issue. Social preasure is extremely affecting, and under normal circumstances being a minority makes a person adapt to be accepted by the majority by adopting their traits/habits/behaviors. Being a white kid in a minority white school will turn the white kid into a non-white kid every way but physiologically

The only purpose of a "good" education is so that your kids can (hopefully) become successful careerwise. Private schooling may offer them better connections to a wealthier group of individuals. The old adage...

It heavily depends on the public school since they are funded by town taxes and attended by the children of the town/area they are located in. In general, if the area it's located in is shit, then chances are so is the school. Look up the demographics, voting habits, greater geographic/cultural area, wealth, wealth origin, tax structure etc. of the area the school is in and you should have a good idea how good it is.

>> No.29490692

>>29484343
It absolutely is.

State schools are generally shitholes packed with borderline criminal teenagers unless you are lucky. You don't really go to a private school for a better education (although you do get that), it's to make sure your child has the right kind of social group and expectations of what success is instead of thinking some ghetto trash are cool and that there is no shame in failing your exams.

I'll add this too, what this anon said is partially true. I went to a 'very good' public school in NE. The town I grew up in was about 40% republican by voting records. Despite that, 95+% of my teachers my entire life were democrats, many of them hardcore. The brainwashing is incessant. The only people who weren't democrats sipping the kool-aid by 12th grade were people with republican parents, which were quite a few people thankfully. Any kid with moderate parents didn't stand a chance of not becoming a democrat, especially the girls. Basically unless you think you can be a strong counterbalance to the incessant brainwashing it isn't a good idea, even then it still will impact your kids. I had a lot of delusional beliefs courtesy of my shitty teachers that bit me in the ass hard over the last few years, which I am finally shedding. I can only speak for NE though, probably if you raise your kids in a wealthy, southern, public school, then the teachers will be much more conservative imo.

no
if your kid reads outside of school they will do well no matter what school they go to

private school is just a waste of money

the only students who do bad at public school are the ones that don't do the homework and assignments and then we get older the blame the school for their lack of discipline

whether a kid is educated or not is usually determined by the parents. educated parents instill a love for education into their kids while retarded parents let their kids be retarded

To answer your question more directly, im a public school kids. Gifted programs k-8th grade, high school at one of the most competitive public schools in the US. It wasn't the worst, but I would never expose my kids to that kind of environment if I had the means not to. Even gifted programs are usually housed in schools with regular subhuman students, and the good high schools are a block or two away from the shitty high schools. Your kids will probably turn out alright if you're around (latchkey kid so I was very minimally supervised and got into trouble). I think private school is the way to go though
