Maybe later, if the light is right. Have a bunch more masks (took forever to find one that fits me well. 3M Auras are the best, but they're almost impossible to get. Many TA fags such as David Brady and Mike Maloney have called the bottom in gold. Brady said there might be one last drop in the price of gold but it would be short lived or the last dip might never happen. Gold already bounced off a strong support. This is TA so take it with a grain of salt but it should be a pretty good time to add on gold positions, both physical and miners.

PMs are an alternative to treasuries and should be treated as such in a portfolio. Silver has a speculative component to it but not as much as stocks. Also crypto is a speculative investment as well. It goes down every time when the market does.

Reasons for me:
I like the looks
It makes nice ping sounds
It's a means of preserving wealth (though under normal conditions, at the cost of increasing wealth!)
It's a cool thing to hand down to your kids or grandkids
If shit really goes south, it might be very useful to pay/barter stuff (unlikely, but possible)

Your reasons (and how you weight those) might differ. But there's a reason that a certain percentage of PMs always has been a recommended addition to about any portfolio.

>> No.29455446

>>29454853
Not sure what your question is. PM stores value (for thousands of years). Paper money does not. PM is not "an investment" in the sense that it is not expected to appreciate in value. (It will appreciate in dollars, as dollars become less powerful to make purchases). Stocks on average ARE expected to appreciate in value because companies earn money and become more valuable, and you can own a piece.
So it is what it is. If you don't have ultimate faith in the stock market, or you don't have ultimate faith in the dollar, then it makes to stash some of your value in a robust value-storing vessel like pm. But if you store all your tendies as pm, then you miss out on the expected gains of being in the market. Only you can decide how to build your portfolio.

Yes, especially considering the fact that silver has much greater industrial use. I think the GSR should be near 1:8 (the mining ratio) but someone could probably argue it's not worth trading silver for gold until it is closer to the ancient egyptian ratio of 1:1, due to silver's industrial importance in modern times.

>>29454394
IMO the only current argument for gold over silver is one of mobility. Obviously moving multiple thousands of ounces of silver is more difficult than a few hundred oz of gold.. but if you've got a safe place and don't need to move it? I do understand your feeling, gold is beautiful.. for me going all silver now is just the better economic decision.. more silver now = more gold later.

He wasn't my biological grandfather but he did service in a partisan group near the Ukraine border (which was an absolute shitfest for the entire war) and was captured by the Germans. Came back afterward to find his entire village was gone. Moved to the US after getting some money from Germany. But I think its generally the case that people who went through seriously uncertain/bad times tend to accumulate gold. When you know that central authority can collapse and that you need real money to get away.
I have friends from SEA whose parents are much the same way with "liking gold" because of the various wars and genocides that were committed there (that they fled from).

Thank you for sharing this. Truly interesting story. I have noticed the same, people that have gone through hardship see things differently and for example understand real tangible wealth. You can see it in the younger western generations (the current zoomers and millenials) that they have been mostly sheltered from any real hardships and have become alienated. They don't understand tangible wealth and think digital tokens are the same as physical coins that can be bartered with. Simply listening to these stories or reading history gives a different view and really highlights what is true wealth preservation and generational wealth. Paradigm shifts are extremely rare and usually the smart thing to do is to bet that nothing changes. In other words, gold was valuable long before youir grandfather, it is valuable now and it is almost certainly valuable in the future as well. Fiat currencies come and go, digital tokens come and go, gold is eternal.

Also got a bunch of pms from my grandpa, e.g. the 10g gold bar in >>29453815. Most of his stuff went to his children (aka me dad and aunt) when he died, so now they're keeping it.
Fun story:
A few years ago when my aunt was visiting us, we cleared out a few of grandpas things (he used to live with us) and there was some old, terribly smelly pleather briefcase. Pleather really starts to smell and get sticky after a few decades, and having been stuffed in some stuffy closet probably didn't help either.
>Ew…what's that?
>Fuck, let's throw it away.
>Hm, kinda heavy
>*pling*
>Something just fell out!
>Oh, a maple leaf!
>Shit, gotta ignore my nose and have a closer look.
>more maple leaves, silver and gold, some Krugers, bunch of russian silver and gold coins, 5 platinum coins, all in all about 10k€
>Almost threw away some tiny pic related still, because it got caught in the lining of the briefcase
That was a fun day of remembering grandpa!

Honestly, go to a dealer and see what they have in old stock. I was originally going to get one like 29459616, but the dude had a chubb ABP safe that weighs 2.2tonnes for the same price. ($2500AUD). So you can guess what I bought. A lot of the newer ones are actually pretty poor protection as they're light enough to carry (barely, unless bolted down) are made of sheet steel and aerated concrete to barely pass the fire rating. Where as the older ones are built to stop everything up to and including thermal lances.

I also heard a story of someone who had a hugeass safe in his attic. Came home one day and his staircase was ruined. He called the police and the police told him some thieves drive around in a van that can scan houses using X-rays or something like that. So they scanned his house, found his safe, and broke in. Once inside they just pushed the safe down the staircase and loaded it in their van.

I disagree with you and don’t like seeing people financially ruined. If you’ve never been through a personal hardship like that, it’s difficult to imagine what that is actually like. But it’s miserable, depressing, and at times hopeless. This is why I like the precious metals community because it is so welcoming to people who show a genuine interest in learning. I want everyone to realize financial security and freedom, and not penalize or belittle someone for going into, say, crypto or tech stocks. Their motivations are similar to our own, but the path they chose was just different. This mindset of “can’t wait until everything crashes, haha” is not one I have. It actually gives me a great deal of cognitive dissonance and torn feelings to think that, for my investments to increase in value, that means other types of investments must drastically decrease, and countless people will be financially ruined. I don’t wish that on anyone anywhere. It’s a strange time, indeed, and with everything negative going on in the world, my opinion is that we shouldn’t be cheering on the suffering of others.

Jesus christ anon, you mean open all of the coin capsules? I plan on buying some tubes, I brought a tube for maples like a dumbass when I have Britannias which are too large for the tube.
I've just sat for about 2 hours staring at it, when I can be bothered to undress all my silver I'll post a pic

Is the guy that had the fake Reichsmarks last thread in here? If so where did you get them from?

>> No.29468909

No of course don't tell peeps that you have a safe (OPSEC and stuff) and let proffesionals place them discreetly without your neighbours noticing. Speaking of your neighbours, have good relationships with them so they can watch your back and you have theirs.

Or as soon as you use your merc dimes with a fwtdhw everybody knows you have silver and you get your teeth kicked in until you turn it all over and then they'll probably kill you for good measure. A big fuck off safe allows you to say "have fun", cause you know you're likely dead either way whether you open it or not. Hidden is of course the best option, but if people know you have wealth, then making it very difficult to take is a deterrent all by itself. I mean, who robs a casino, everybody knows thrle money is in a safe and won't be got at easily so its better to rob a 711 instead.

No, but the guy who identified them. He probably got them off ebay. Just search for Reichsmark on Alibaba
The edge is often the giveaway, tons of cheap fakes with wrong edges. Also they are probably magnetic lol. I got an "old" russian Ruble and an "old" russian Dollar that have the same shitty edges for free from a scammed collector.

Golds going to 2400+ with this liquidity. Which will be nothing more than its same purchasing power now which is what it does and all its good for.
