Brady said there might be one last drop in the price of gold but it would be short lived or the last dip might never happen. Gold already bounced off a strong support. This is TA so take it with a grain of salt but it should be a pretty good time to add on gold positions, both physical and miners.

PMs are an alternative to treasuries and should be treated as such in a portfolio. Silver has a speculative component to it but not as much as stocks. Also crypto is a speculative investment as well. It goes down every time when the market does.

Reasons for me:
I like the looks
It makes nice ping sounds
It's a means of preserving wealth (though under normal conditions, at the cost of increasing wealth!)
It's a cool thing to hand down to your kids or grandkids
If shit really goes south, it might be very useful to pay/barter stuff (unlikely, but possible)

Your reasons (and how you weight those) might differ. But there's a reason that a certain percentage of PMs always has been a recommended addition to about any portfolio.

Not sure what your question is. PM stores value (for thousands of years). Paper money does not. PM is not "an investment" in the sense that it is not expected to appreciate in value. (It will appreciate in dollars, as dollars become less powerful to make purchases). Stocks on average ARE expected to appreciate in value because companies earn money and become more valuable, and you can own a piece.
So it is what it is. If you don't have ultimate faith in the stock market, or you don't have ultimate faith in the dollar, then it makes to stash some of your value in a robust value-storing vessel like pm. But if you store all your tendies as pm, then you miss out on the expected gains of being in the market. Only you can decide how to build your portfolio.

I think the GSR should be near 1:8 (the mining ratio) but someone could probably argue it's not worth trading silver for gold until it is closer to the ancient egyptian ratio of 1:1, due to silver's industrial importance in modern times.

He wasn't my biological grandfather but he did service in a partisan group near the Ukraine border (which was an absolute shitfest for the entire war) and was captured by the Germans. Came back afterward to find his entire village was gone. Moved to the US after getting some money from Germany. But I think its generally the case that people who went through seriously uncertain/bad times tend to accumulate gold. When you know that central authority can collapse and that you need real money to get away.
