sorry anon. also, I've had this though before, and I don't know that the two are directly comprable. modern corporations are inextricably intertwined into the fabric government, at least in america, but are still treated, and largely behave, as a separate entity. I would say that it more closely resembles a branch of government, the same way you could consider the military to be.

To the extent that a monarchy may be defined as an unusually effective and aggressive real estate company, corporations appear to partially meet this definition (either on the net or in the real world). Presently they do not quite have the means to conquer in a conventional way and generally must appease/bribe the nation states to whom they are ostensibly subordinate in the power hierarchy. They are definitely trying to achieve monarchic-level power, though, and are increasingly close to getting it.
