Yeah but our trade deficit is six to seven times higher than China’s, who else we selling our production to?

>> No.29350293

What's the problem exactly? It's much cheaper to import goods from shitholes than it is to produce them locally in the US. That means Americans can get affordable products while also having enough money to keep our service economy running. If we produced everything locally most products would be expensive as fuck.

We don't. We hardly make things anymore. We just buy shit nowadays. The largest portion of our economy is in services, not manufacture.

it means our economy is now running on fumes and everybody is a nurse or an Uber driver. Guess who sustainable that is.

Fed prints money. Give monopoly money to countries in exchange for physical goods. Not sure how long this scam is going to last

Is it really that expensive or have market manipulators made it so?

It's pretty funny, they overregulate the hell out of the domestic economy, force production costs to be much higher than 3rd world shitholes that do none of the same, then rugpull, letting the 3rd world shithole join our market and drain the work. Shit is criminal and Americans are taught to cheerlead it. We deserve our demise desu.

its not. an iphone would cost the same if it was made in america by factory workers paid 50-60k a year
the only difference is the profit margin apple would receive.
labor costs are a meme for mass produced objects

I'm getting past the anger stage. I talk to a lot of friends my age and they hardly care. Reactions range from denial (and usually just insulting me) from the more liberal types to shoulder shrugging from the rad centrists and "conservatives." We are weak people, this is a soulless demoralized country, it will decay. All we can do is get our buck. When I try to think of our greatest collective mistake as a country I'm thinking it's universal suffrage, democracy only really worked when it was a small, concerned share of rational stakeholders voting, not this mass of programmable retards.

As an American I think it’ll last until someone calls our buff. It will take military power for that to work though.

How about manufacturing jobs going from 55% of the national economy to 15% in a matter of 10 years, that sounds pretty drastic to me

Well regardless of that bit of speculation, it doesn’t take a high iq to notice the decline of America’s manufacturing might. Most Americans are also lacking in hard skills too these days and are heavily dependent upon someone else to fix their shit for them. We use to be a way more industrious people. Other nations are profiting off of our sloth and glut.
