I don't have enough to justify buying $50 worth of a DeFI coin and paying $100 in gas, I'm not entirely sure how the gas prices work which makes me gunshy of even attempting.

There's other stuff you can use that doesn't have eth gas prices. Binance Smart Chain is trendy af right now, avalanche launched not too long ago, and there's some L2 eth systems (like xDai, Matic, etc) that are rapidly expanding.

Gas is like $5 right now per transfer. Not sure why everyone is upset about gas. Executing contracts is probably more though
