The total supply of ID tokens is 800 million. The ID token is a virtual financial asset/token, (utility functionality, per legal opinion in Europe with availability in over 170 countries) endowing holders with rewards, voting and governance rights, and enabling access to the network and the myriad of applications and services that are available in the economy. The more tokens staked by a user or organization, the more functionality becomes available; for example, if you want to send USD $400 to a friend in the Philippines, then you only need 5 ID tokens, but if you want to send $50,000 to 50 employees every month with escrow features, and receive automated tracking & reporting, then staking 10,000 ID tokens is appropriate.

EXCLUSIVE. Asian Development Bank (ADB) has selected Everest, a California-based firm that uses blockchain for know-your-customer (KYC) purposes, to fix a cross-border issue in Samoa, Australia and New Zealand.

The contract with ADB was signed on 1 March this year, with the implementation starting immediately and expected to be finished in Q3 of this year, Everest CEO and co-founder Bob Reid tells FinTech Futures. Everest was granted the contract after the call for proposals by ADB was made in October.

It doesnt make sense to price out your users from functions of the platform. How is that good for adoption?

Everest will generate revenue in a variety of ways but has already begun by providing biometric identity verification, charging between two and seven cents per verification. There are a few other players in the space, he says, who are charging fees in the same range. The firm will also charge for financial transactions, perhaps $2 for a remittance or 0.5% fee on new microloans. In addition, business services will generate revenue from the sale of software development kits (SDKs) and access licenses. Everest will also provide integration services to help businesses connect legacy data to the new platform.
