Here's what you do
1. Take $1000
2. Split it up in 100 $10s.
3. Invest each of those $10 into penny stocks that look like they can 10x.
4. Set a sell limit for 10x
5. When one stock reaches a 10x profit, take that money and invest it another potential 10x.
6. Repeat step 5 until 1 million dollars
Bam, low risk investment for a high reward. Penny stocks are blowing up in this bull market, take a chance on them. See you at Dorsia my fellow future millionaires.

PLTR is a good stock for people that just downloaded the Robinhood app and now they think they are expert stock traders. Most Robinhood people only buy affordable cheap stocks like this because they can't afford the big boy stocks like amazon, tesla, apple, etc. Robinhood is a great platform for uneducated people who never graduated college. Having a few shares on robinhood app gives them great satisfaction and makes them feel very important in life. They brag about it at family gatherings and think everybody is impressed.

any good resources on learning this stuff? or maybe a realistic example or two? i feel like most people just kinda talk ambiguously about it like "oh yeah you just sorta look at all of these metrics and figure it out i guess lmao" but i have no idea how to actually use this information to figure out whether buying a stock is a good deal or not from that perspective.

like... i need something more specific. like "AMD is a better deal than NVDA because it's P/E is 43 compared to NVDA's 97", but it's probably more complicated than that i assume. but see how that's specific and simple/straightforward? that's what im looking for, so i know what process i can repeat over and over as i look through companies.

what is your job? how much do you make a year? the key for me was that i put $30k in my account to start with and slowly worked that up to 50k in my first year, and then this year GME happened and i went up to 100k and then tried to re-enter GME like a retard and now im at 75-80k (we've been having some red days so closer to 75k currently). i dont put more money in.

even if the market crashes and i lose everything in my brokerage account it's not a big deal because i have a job and im only 30 years old. now is the time to be taking risks (why i've made so much so quickly). you don't want to be taking risks when you're old and near the end of when you can work. on top of that if another march-style crash happens (and you'll know if you understand the VIX and see it ever cross the 80 threshold), THEN i would put more money in to buy the bottom of SOXL. but otherwise even if i for some reason lost all of my money in my brokerage account i wouldn't be living in a cardboard box, because i have a fucking job.

pick shit with low downside potential (because of its fundamentals) then all you have to do is wait for them to grow and get a contract
All it takes is one big contract for them to fundamentally double in valuation. Like if a contract is "only" worth 20 million and marketcap is 100 million, that's already a +20% increase. Obviously valuing a contract isn't as simple as that, you'd probably guesstimate the value of a contract lower than that (can roughly estimate based on their current profit margins), but you get the idea that a single contract can moon the price up

try to avoid shit that loses too much money or is overleveraged. They can still go up but you probably should have a firm exit strategy because they will do stock offerings and dilute your ass if they keep losing money

BITF.V / BFARF was kinda enticing based on their numbers too, not sure about now though, but look at their numbers and pretend it was still a 100 million market cap for example, would you feel safe buying in?

they falsely believe it will make them more money in the long run. the smart companies do "token" things for the minorities like amazon having a black square on their website for awhile for the george floyd whatever crap. or WotC literally deleting "racist" cards from their gatherer website. things that make it look like they "stand with them" but really it costs them nothing and keeps the chimps from wrecking their businesses.

the bad businesses like INTC go full retard and actually go way too far and it ends up destroying their business, like comic books constantly trying to put more diversity and fags in their works like making spider man black or making wolverine gay. vast majority of the population doesn't actually want politically correct shit.

> Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) is an investment strategy in which an investor divides up the total amount to be invested across periodic purchases of a target asset in an effort to reduce the impact of volatility on the overall purchase. The purchases occur regardless of the asset's price and at regular intervals. In effect, this strategy removes much of the detailed work of attempting to time the market in order to make purchases of equities at the best prices. Dollar-cost averaging is also known as the constant dollar plan.

I often ask candidates if they’re familiar with what we do at Palantir. Most people think they are. “Oh, you’re that data viz. company,” or, worse, “You guys do data mining, right?” At least they’ve heard of us and at least they’re on the right track, but I cringe anyway. We aren’t just a “data visualization” company and we don’t do “data mining.” It’s almost impossible to convey the scope and complexity of what we do in a few short minutes—or to do so without taking the conversation to an eye-glazing level of abstraction.

Two good starting points are "Value Investing with Sven Carlin" and "The Popular Investor". Both also have a guide for how to calculate a stock's intrinsic value and provide their excel template as a download, see for example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpsXIeZ8h5o
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP-DfIHLb50

That doesn't mean I fully agree with either one of them on all their valuations or their general outlook, but they should give you a good idea what the general process is.
If you want to get serious about valuation, look for lectures by Aswath Damodaran.

The following is my attempt at describing what we do at a high level without oversimplifying. I hope that after reading this a candidate will ‘get’ what we’re about, or at least understand enough not to apply tiny labels to our expansive vision. The problem: implementing analysis. At Palantir we specialize in analysis.Yes, that’s painfully abstract, and I’ll get to it in a second. In real-world terms, we are building a software platform that enables people to take whatever data is relevant to them and understand it more easily and thoroughly than ever before, using concepts that they already understand. And we are applying this vision, at first, to solving problems in the finance sector and the government intelligence community. The first important thing to note is that we don’t actually do the analysis ourselves. We don’t devise winning trading strategies and we don’t catch terrorists. We write software that enables other people to pull off these feats. These people, experts in their respective fields, are called *analysts.*So what exactly do analysts do? What is analysis?

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to invest in Palantir. The company itself is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of machine learning and data structuring most of the tech and its applications will go over a typical investors head. There's also society's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into a dystopian high tech future- this philosophy draws heavily from Orwellian literature, for instance. The Palantir investor understands this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of this company, to realize that they're not just a company- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Palantir ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the inclination in what Palantirs CEO said when he said, "We believe in augmenting human intelligence, not replacing it," which itself is a cryptic reference to Huxley's magnum opus Brave New World. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Alexander Karp's genius wit unfolds itself on their brokerage sites. I know I'm not the first person to think of and I know it's not free money (nothing is in stocks lol), but I've done a lot of calculations with Black-Scholes and it should almost always work (IV practically always goes down after earnings). Obviously the options market doesn't always follow Black-Scholes and the bid-ask spread might fuck me, which is why I'm not going to try this with really small caps or illiquid options

First, and most important, the analyst should be in control. In other words, the primary way of interacting with an analysis tool should be human-driven queries. While automated approaches can complement a human-driven approach, there simply is no substitute for human intelligence. Unless you put a person behind the wheel, the system can never be flexible or creative enough to uncover truly original insight. Artificial Intelligence just isn’t there yet

Ability to summarize large data sets. Some of this is what has traditionally been called data mining: the largely automated approach—using machine learning or other statistical techniques—of processing lots of data at once and extracting nuggets that capture something interesting about the data. Unlike Palantir, traditional approaches have focused almost exclusively on this aspect of analysis.

Ability to visualize large data sets. Here the analyst wants interesting and informative ways of viewing data graphically, to make it easier for him to digest. The analyst wants more than just a summary of the data; he wants a nuanced view of what’s going on inside these data sets: What’s the overall shape of the distribution? What are the outliers? What are important structures within the data?

Ability to iterate rapidly. This means enabling the analyst to ask a question, get the answer, and then quickly ask either a variant on the initial question or a follow-up question that depends on the answer to the initial question. This rapid, iterative process allows the analyst to quickly test out hypotheses and develop theories about what’s going on in the data, and by extension to discover what’s going on in the world.

Ability to collaborate with other analysts. Getting a handle on a terabyte of data, especially when it comprises multiple data types, is definitely more than a one-person job. Any organization that’s serious about understanding the world needs a team of analysts that can work together as more than the sum of its parts. This requires the ability for one analyst to effortlessly share the results of his analysis with his colleagues.

That’s what analysis looks like to the analyst, or rather what it should look like in an ideal world. (Current tools fall far short of this vision.) So what do we do at PLTR in order to make analysis this smooth and easy? You could say that we help summarize large data sets, in the sense that we have to provide the analyst with a rich library of techniques and algorithms. You could also say that we do visualization, in the sense that we have to provide the analyst with a set of interesting and informative ways of visualizing their data. We do both of these things, and we have to be creative and solve hard problems in order to add value in these areas. But we do a lot more than that. Probably the most central hard problem that we address in trying to enable the analyst is data modeling, the process of figuring out what data types are relevant to a domain, defining what they represent in the world, and deciding how to represent them in the system. At Palantir we make sure our data model (ontology) is both flexible and dynamic, and that it mirrors the concepts people naturally use when reasoning about the domain. This is no small challenge, but we’re already making it a reality. In finance our basic data types include financial instruments, dates, portfolios, indices, and strategies—the same things that financial researchers think about, talk about, and reason with. In the intelligence product our basic data types include people, places, and events (all with associated properties), which is exactly the way we all represent the world in our minds.

Data modeling, data summarization, and data visualization are the core disciplines for approaching large data sets. Human-driven queries, rapid iteration, and collaboration are multipliers, taking the power unlocked by the core disciplines to the next level. When these pieces are brought together in a coherent system, the result is in an analysis platform both very generic and very powerful. This is what we mean when we say that we’re changing the way people approach data. Welcome to the future of analysis.

If you start trading options, here are some tips:

1. Learn the terms
- Put vs call
- Strike Price
- Expiration Date

2. Stay away from weeklies. That means don't buy any options that expire the same week as you purchase it.

3. While your at it, don't buy any options that expire within 2 weeks.

4. Don't buy options that expire on a Monday

5. Buy long options in blue chips, or established companies or ETFs (spy or voo are good ones to start)

6. Be conservative.

7. Take the money and run. If your option goes up a decent amount, cash it out. It might go up more, but at least you cashed out in the green. Don't get greedy or you will see lots of red.

8. Don't buy options in meme stocks

9. Don't buy options in meme stocks

10. Take the money and run.

11. Don't panic sell, don't panic buy.

12. Strongly consider selling if you are up a lot at the end of a day. Aftermarket movings can kill your profits before market open the next day (see, SPCE from 2/11 to 2/12. I lost nearly $10k overnight.)

I have been trading options for about 2 months and these are my beginner rules. Things i wish i would have done. Be patient and don't be stupid.

You need to phrase this in a less dramatic way or else people will get scared off from options.

What this guy is trying to get at is that the whole point of options is that you get asymmetric returns with high volatility, that is part of the whole purpose of options. That high vol / asymmetric returns comes from a high momentum day with a lot of velocity for the share price action. This manifests as a very steep slope up and to the right for options. The more momentum/velocity your play has, the better time it is for you to sell, since you have liquidity from retail pouring in as well at that time.

The probe fell apart because they had no evidence. They manufactured some evidence as well, but it was too stupid to be believable. The first week Bar was in office, he forced Mueller to end the probe and write his report.

All good advice, my only question is the long-term stuff
This is a massive bull market right now, and huge bull runs usually end in crashes. The Fed has been printing more money than ever before (more than 2008, more than the Great Depression) to prop the economy up, how long can they keep doing this? As long as they keep the money printers going the bull run will continue but surely they can't keep going forever, at which point it will inevitably crash

I'll do both but I've got $25k to start my new margin account so day trades are an option available to me that I haven't played with before.

I spent last spring swing trading meme shit with some decent success but not much capital to invest with and it looks like I've got capital now and this spring off from work so I want to take it more seriously. Swing trading tips are welcome too.

Last year I mainly just tried to predict the meme stocks and sold when they pumped and tripled my small investment.

deciding which stocks to buy is called Due Diligence. a risky strategy is "buy the rumor, sell the news" which is basically how biopharma stocks go. promising trial, next phase, uh oh the medicine is useless. 80% crash. it's ok to miss the very top end of the profits.

With the popularity of retail trading you can now buy the rumor and sell the story.

That's not trading, that's literally just gambling. If you want to gamble like that then just do swing "trading" with the same mindset and hope to god that the bull market will keep on going

Options are just another way to get leverage on a position. If you're not using leverage in the stock market wtf are you doing, this is /biz/ not /boomer/. The only reason we play the stock market is because you can lever yourself up to your eyeballs.
