please, stop and just fucking THINK for a second. You're staring demand in its face. You have a working CHEAP financial system of the future TODAY.
The real use cases for a layer-1 -- settlements of humongous orders, new but rigid protocols, exchanges -- are not for the little guy. Forget what eth devs think, what btc devs think and try to be a visionary. For one reason or another, the ethereum chain is the one that emerged as the chosen for one for everyone's dapps and decentralization use cases. All of that is extremely expensive as is. We're talking about scales of hundreds of billions in single transactions. Paying just a few grand utilize the decentralized blockchain with everyone else's data on there to interoperate? Yes, of course i'd take that as long as it can guarantee decentralization.
Bitcoiners got one thing right and that is decentralization. but they don't realize:
1. How decentralized ethereum is
2. How centralized bitcoin is with bitcoin core having a lock on its development
and the answer is that they're pretty much the same across the board except ironically ethereum development is a little more decentralized.
Once PoS hits and takes on the settlement, it will have the strongest chain. It will be over. No, seriously, it will be done. You have 1.5 years until then. There is no more "accumulation period". You won't get to find dips anymore. Everyone who uses these technologies knows. Everyone is buying up as much ether as they can.
All others are nothing but speculation --- outside of 1-5 apps per chain subsidized directly by the chain founders -- there is no usage of any other native token except for bitcoin *barely*. Ethereum is used so much, its fees pay an order of magnitude more a day than bitcoin.
