sup /pmg/. i'm a silvertard who's been getting back into stacking (honestly because of all the hype) and while shopping around a bunch of different sites, i found something i had never seen before.

ruthenium? what the hell is this. black silver? i loooked up how much an oz of it is, and it's around $500 an oz. however all the coins and bars i see sold as "1 oz ruthenium" are around $80. so what gives? are they just silver bars coated with this material? what's the point then? also, apparently this material is toxic to even touch, so double wtf, what is ruthenium about and do any of you collect this? i don't understand how selling toxic silver bars could be a good idea. sure they look cool as hell but, what the fuck?

Coins are harder to fake, easier to sell, more recognizable, and have the potential of numismatic value down the line. The only thing rounds have going for them (save for very artistic/special mint rounds) is that they're cheaper. Always buy coins over rounds if the price is comparable, unless you just really want a certain round.

Hello precious metal veterans, I am a tourist here with a simple question. I'm thinking about speculating on silver (I know, big nono, but bear with me), because I saw there is some trouble brewing around March futures.
Can you tell me some reasons why LE EBIN SILVER SQUIZ won't happen? E.g. JPM cracking down, ledditors absolutely misunderstanding the market, etc.

Once the normies start to see and experience the inflation that we on biz have long understood is coming you'll see metal prices go wild for a bit and eventually stabilize to around 1.5x their current value. None of this is taking into account the probable comex default which would easily see 3x metal prices

looks like they make mixed metal versions with this too. silver core, ruthenium coating, painted with 24k gold. stupidly overpriced, all of these. but they're 'colllector art coins' so i guess that's the point.

pure Ru is worth considering since its vital in the chemical industry as its a catalyst for many feedstock chemicals. But then youre investing in a consumption metal rather than a stacking metal (gold isnt really that useful, but just worth that much because of historical worth).
This means that
a) its worth is derived from its rarity and usefulness
b) if they find alternative catalysts (unlikely to be quick) it can loses its value
c) its very unlikely the price will shift a lot since the amount they can mine per year is very stable and demand is pretty stable as well.

It can be interesting if you are already solid with gold and silver and want a third metal to hedge incase people no longer trust gold for some reason and silver drops for some reason as well.

i think we should just abolish the term and concept of 'premiums' over spot when talking about prices.
'spot' should be the speculative futures contract price and should be referred to as 'discount' rate separate from the real street 'price' of bullion.
the discount is there to compensate you, the holder, of the risk of counterparty default on the COOMEX and the non-fulfillment of physical delivery per the contract at the specified timeframe.

uranium isnt all that dangerous. Only if you use it for tank shells and atomize them with hard impact, and then inhale them, or sleep with an enriched uranium brick strapped to your forehead do you get issues. Hell, they probably sell depleted uranium to avoid issues. I would say Pb is actually more dangerous

As for the holes
Far left is all alkali metals, very reactive, goes from fizzing in water (Li) to exploding violently (K>, even Na can be nasty).
Ca, Sr Ba etc all are pretty reactive and form oxides and can be nasty.
Tc is radioactive. Hg is a liquid and easily evaporates. Evaporating 1 droplet in a decently sized room pushes it above acceptable levels.
N and O are gasses
F, Cl, Br, I are halogens which are pretty nasty. are used in organic chemistry since they are pretty reactive but still controllable.
Far right are noble gasses.
Bottom rows are all rare earth metals which can be insanely expensive and rare. And at Eu it starts being radioactive.

Sedevacantist Catholics best Catholics.

Not really relevant but at University I befriended a priest pretty high on the diocesan totem pole who was a raging alcoholic cokehead, he would bring over bottles of $60 champagne and 8-balls of fire flake (plus xanax and ativan to eventually get to sleep) and we'd shoot the shit until sunrise, often I'd help him write his weekly parish newsletter while blowing rails off a framed picture of St Peters Basilica he gave me LMAO. I could tell some scandalous stories about the rot in the church, it was really eye-opening. I'm no longer a degenerate and he has cleaned up too but sometimes I miss those days.

Before humans used gold as currency/value we used brute strength/trade. Even after silver and gold was used as currency/value we gave value to furs and traded with the natives using beads and trinkets.

Money evolves and crypto might die in a fire or bitcoin is here to stay. We simply dont know. There will be a black swan event and you wont see it coming.

True, innovations and automation will have aided productivity growth. But I can anecdotally say at least that listening to my warehouse workplace's oldfags tell me how easy it used to be to get full productivity bonuses at work when they were young compared to today, and seeing myself how productivity bonuses are adjusted higher I can see why people often draw that conclusion. I will say though that what the chart unequivocally tells us is that efficiency has almost tripled while wages have only gone up by about 10%. There's a massive disconnect there no matter whether the productivity growth is driven by workers working harder or innovation, or both.

In short, this shows that for the most part people who get their income with wages only will not be as successful as people before 1973 who only had a dayjob. And I think this is also funnily enough tied to the gold standard crumbling, 1971 is the year that began to open a growing divide between the extremely wealthy and everybody else.

Wow you showed me an example of an attractive one, I would have never expected that. The only thing they have going for them is their cheek bones, and that is not enough for me. Maybe you only see pictures of women online and its ok anon

I've always liked those little Bulldogs, yet wouldn't pony up the $200 for one back when they were that and common to find new. I guess 'cause it's not a Smith and because it's not 44Mag. I ended up with a j-frame Smith snubby - in 357! Perfect front pocket gun. I'd def give $200 for a Bulldog now, though. I've always liked them, just not enough to actually take the plunge. 44 special is a neat cartridge, not girly at all like 38.

There is no such thing as "gamma decay". The uranium decay chain is mainly alpha. Not to mention that some of the products are actually very long lived, so those daughter products won't be worse than undecayed uranium atoms.

Not putting beta-radiating stuff next to your head is sound advice tho. Maybe wrap your head in tinfoil first :^)

They list cheapest prices for several retailers. I'm surprised I've not seen them mentioned once here. I start from there when I'm looking. Sovereigns are listed for like $460 there, just the first shop is sold out so you gotta go down the list..

They're linked in every one of the /pmg/ threads, in the OP. They suck though because they list items that are OUT OF STOCK. Maybe it's not something they've ever had to deal with before, but these are tricky times we're buying in and they need to be more aware. Right now as a resource they're useless for this reason.

Mostly alpha and beta (the "branches" in the decay tree are from beta). You do get gamma rays because not all of the decays are to the ground level (represented by alpha-branching ratios). Excited nuclear states decay by gamma emission since the lifetime of those states is usually much smaller than the lifetime of the daughter. Slide 11 onward for the curious:
