Yes they're a meme. If the switch to EVs actually becomes a thing, the current power grid would not be able to sustain it. Unless there is a major push towards nuclear energy, it will fail. Costs to build and commission a nuclear plant are expensive and take years to make, so unless we start seeing plans for the construction of new plants soon I personally don't think its even reasonable for governments to consider switching to EVs.
