I got into stocks from the FIRE movement and began saving half my income in tax-sheltered accounts with safe investments. I've had an eye on crypto since the very beginning but at every step I dismissed it and eventually regretted it. More recently I started seeing crypto as a viable investment but thought it was too risky until I realized I could put all my extra money (the savings on top of my existing retirement savings) into crypto and it would represent less than 3% of my total net worth, so in January I decided to start putting all my extra savings into BTC to diversify from the index funds in my retirement accounts. I used my crypto gains to pay off my mothers and my brothers debts. My brothers had mortgages while my mother had numerous small high interest loans that she had been juggling for 10 years to make ends meet while raising 3 sons all on her own with a shitty job. I don't think I need to become a psychopath to look at something rationally, but duly noted. Truth be told, I'm not interested at all in the technical workings of crypto. I'm learning them because I need to, but I have no actual passion for the projects themselves other than seeing their eventual implementation in global finance as an eventuality. This sort of disinterest makes it pretty easy for me to not get "attached" to any particular coin I'm in.

I've been tempted to swing, but restrained myself and watched what would have been like a 20% position loss if I had tried. I've been tempted to hold from hype, but sold anyways because the bad news seemed more technically founded than the hype and escaped a 40% loss. I understand that being smart won't give you market intuition or put you above becoming a coin cultist, but once you've sobered up and have a mature handle on the market(losing 90% of your holdings in a bear run would probs accelerate that) it seems like making quick, rational decisions would be directly tied to your intelligence AND experience.
