How are you all this uninformed? Eth2.0 is already here. Right now it's only proof of stake. This year is the eth1/eth2 merge AND data sharding. There's so much work being done in parallel it's crazy. Also check out the work being done to reduce data bloat. Kate Commitments are replacing Merkle Trees.

Like others said, ETH is too big to fail. Between the amount of capital invested in it's growth, having the best researchers, and the best development ecosystem nothing else comes close. /biz/ likes to hate on ETH but it'll be #2 for a long time still.
