It's not inflationary via staking, there is a hard cap of 10B (same as GRT for reference). It'll take 10 years to get there though. The coin releases over time are for various reasons, not just from staking (which a portion of the pool IS unlocked by).

The path to buying USDT on there with a credit card looked a little dodgy to me to be honest, so for me it was:
