Coinbase traces every transaction anon, if they link your account to any known gambling wallet its instant ban hammer. If you have a bunch of transactions from unknown wallets they will ask what the source of the funds is. They actually asked me where all the funds I was cashing out were coming from in 2017 with a multiple choice pop up window... my funds were trading/mining profits off shitcoins on third rate exchanges like cryptopia and worse.... but one of the choices on their list was "gambling winnings" which made it obvious they were trying to figure out what the wallets I was interacting with were

I made this mistake also. Sent 50$ in BTC to poker site. New to crypto, only had service 2 weeks. Read through terms and services qucikly, but not well enough I guess, off course I was agreeing to not do anything illegal, but the site I sent it too is completely legal where I'm at, and so I didn't realize. Didn't get any notice yet.

Of course I won't transfer any more in or out through the poker site, now that you all pointed it out, but Should I close my account now? Should I just wait and see? Should I reach out to them? I want to be on the up and up.

If so what are the alternatives, I was just getting my account set up nice, and I'd rather take the hit for my mistake now, and get back on track.

Kraken or Binance?

Also I was leaving coins on site, wallet has less than 1k value at the moment. Should I really be off loading them to a wallet every time. I have a Binance account and an exodus wallet I set up, is that good? Wont I incur fees each time I wallet transfer to and from wallet? Can't afford eth fees, but swaps are free. Does that mean I should turn everything into BTC, then transfer, then redistribute back to coins of choice once back in wallet?

There's just so much to learn. I feel bad as it is, help me oh wise crypto peeps.

You should keep your money on coinbase to avoid such hassle. It wont help when coinbase servers are lagging so hard you can barely log in, but at least its theoretically possible to sell.

Yes, there is a transaction fee of 0.5 per every $100. This lowers if you sell/buy more around $10k, then it goes to 0.35, then 0.25.. etc.
Put $200 USD into BTC then fee is $1
Put $200 BTC into USD then fee is $1
So you have to put that into consideration when changing coin to usd, etc.
You can transfer coin to coin but I dont deal in that so you would have to check their fees on that.
As for wallet I keep mine on the site for simplicity and so I dont have issues with lost coins from a bad transfer.

>We understand that people may not feel comfortable entering their login credentials and provide another verification option. been doing a bit more research on it also. technically coinbase says no gambling sites, and many of he legal poker sites in the US aren't actually "gambling" sites; they have their own statements of such on those sites.
So it shouldn't be an issue with those sites, but I guess the call is up to them.

I wish they were more clear about which sites they considered gambling, or made it more clear when signing up, since using crypto for poker is fairly common idea, or better yet, just restrict transactions to gambling sites they blacklist, and help prevent their users from making a mistake.
