Yes. Just rent a place (you will need an address) and get a shitty bartender /hotel job. You can open now a bank account. Cash out, and dissapear. 10% tax iirc

Do I have to officially claim that I have moved to Portugal before cashing out?
Once I've cashed out I can just move back to my country with my money right?

You're a US citizen right? Fun fact: the IRS can and will fuck you AND your bank, so few foreign banks will open accounts for US citizens. Not worth the risk and headaches.
>b-but its another country!!!
The USD being the global reserve currency gives the American government a lot of power.

In general the criterion for being subject to tax in Portugal is residence, 6 months minimum I think
But confirm that
You can have residence without nationality and vice versa. You can be national and not be taxed there

You dont even need to rent a place. I went for a weekend and gave my mates address. No proof of address needed though so can just use a random one or air bnb.

No you cant go back to your home country to live there or you will be taxed. You have to either live in Portugal or live somewhere else not your home country. For bongs after 5 years u can return to uk and wont be taxed on your initial cash out.

>>28991984
This

There are many agencies that sort everything for you for a relatively small fee. They get you two no. Citizenship card etc. For all the portufags worried about us living there being a tax resident doesnt mean you have to live there. It's just for admin purposes to avoid crypto tax. Boa sorte.

So I've got to hang out in Portugal for 6 months in some flat. That's possible. Could chill out for half a year I guess.
Does Portugal say that I've got to pay taxes in my home country in the EU because that's where I did most of the trades and that's where I bought my crypto?
Crypto is an asset you can just move around with.

Shit. Then I will have to wait till I make it. Because Portugal is trash unless you're rich and my home country has a good economy.
I guess I'll wait as long as I can before getting rekt by the government forcing me to cash out my crypto so I can pay the crypto to crypto taxes.

No you dont. You can be a non habitual resident and not live there but still be taxed there.
For NHR status you only need to spend like a month each year in portugal or something.

You have to contact the tax authority from your home country and inform them you have left the country they permanently and are now solely a tax resident of Portugal. Once they have confirmed this then u can cash out. As long as you dont return to home country u are fine. Some countries like UK let you return for holidays etc but not to live or conduct business.

got dual citizen leaf/euro, so I could go to Portugal no problem?

Other than the shorter wait lines, having a dual citizenship may finally end up being very useful.

This would only work if you made no trace in spain. You wouldn't be able to use debit cards for longer than a couple weeks, you couldn't rent a flat, have a job pay billls. Basically you couldn't do anything that would cause you to show up on the system as living in spain. So in theory if you cashed out in Portugal and snuck back into spain then lived entirely on cash it might work. Maybe.
