Isn't Matic just a second layer, akin to Lightning network? Isn't Polkadot doing the same thing? Additionally, won't these second layers have to eat the initial gas fee for transferring your assets off chain, such as how it was handled with the Avax bridge?

I kind of like Iota, regardless of the problems the company has had, simply due to it being lightning fast and economical at layer one. Hbar I appreciate similarly, but it is way too centralized and has horrible tokenomics.

It uses a hybrid mining style of BTC and eth so both miner can mine Hathor. It is a "eth killer" and not a shitcoin. Again whether it will take on the big boys remains a question but it will definitely only get bigger and should have no problem finding its way to the top 50/100 eventually
