I just went through this and it’s actually pretty easy

1 create new account on mm tied to hardware wallet (I used Trezor but ledger is basically same)

2 when you click on metamask icon you will see a pull down with the new account

3 click send and it gives you option to transfer between accounts — transfer everything to the hardware wallet account

There are many ways to minimise the chances of getting hacked.

1. Use a hardware wallet to store all your coins
2. If using MM or another soft wallet use a password manager such as keypass and use a randomly generated password. You can also store your seed phrase in here.
3. Never give out any details about your wallet ID or transaction history.
4. don't be a retard when using the internet and click on ads or links you aren't sure about.

As far as MM get hacked I would doubt it unless there is verified proof of a breach otherwise I would put it down to user error.

The leaked information was your address, people now know who you are, where you live and that there is crypto there on a ledger.

Literally doesn't matter at all retard.

Only way someone is hacking your Metamask is if you get keylogged and type in your seed phrase (which you don't even ever type in unless you choose to recover a wallet through Metamask). The private key and seed phrase are stored encrypted in your local browser.
