Monero is secure, low-fee, and borderless, meaning users can send XMR around the globe despite corrupt governments or broken financial systems. Innovative privacy features such as Ring Signatures, Stealth Addresses, and Ring CT (hidden tx amounts) ensure that Monero's blockchain is obfuscated -- the financial history of all Monero users is encrypted from the prying eyes of adversaries on a public blockchain, with transactions being visible only by a Monero user willingly providing a view key for a specific transaction.

Monero has also improved upon the scaling downsides of current popular cryptos. To avoid high fees, dynamic block size ensures that the size of the blocks will increase as the amount of txs increases. Further, the mining network algorithm RandomX establishes that anybody with a CPU can participate in mining, preventing the ASIC miner domination that creates a high barrier of entry. Lastly, the mining network will be preserved by Tail Emission -- instead of the block reward falling to zero like with Bitcoin, the block reward will gradually approach 0.6 XMR in May 2022, where it will forever stay. This constant linear inflation means the inflation rate will asymptotically go to zero while continuing to provide an incentive to miners to maintain the network.

Who knows, maybe it's their financial partners in the US. Kraken has offered a USD pair for Monero for many years now and they have absolutely zero issues. I greatly recommend using Kraken -- the only OG exchange still up and running with zero security incidences. Also, they like and support Monero.

Usually I'd recommend doing so, but I'm not so sure what's going to happen on this very bull run that we are experiencing. Institutions are entering, BTC is getting popular and recognized by the mainstream... I think it's gonna be harder to dump the price. There are a lot more buyers now.

Kraken doesn't support my state so I had to use kucoin. The volume sucks but they've never given me any shit depositing or withdrawing.

This is the lovely and very interesting story of Monero, created by an unknown person who went by thankful_for_today on BitcoinTalk, a fork of Bytecoin which was the first implementation of the brand new CryptoNote protocol. Lots of people don't know that Monero uses a different code base than Bitcoin.

The whole point of Monero is privacy. Exchanges are the least private place you could possibly store it. Also, crypto exchanges have a history of disappearing, but they're better these days

Cakewallet is probably good if you're actually trading crypto IRL. If you just plan on holding monero and not selling/trading, you should just go with the desktop GUI and download the blockchain.
