the key to most market manipulation cases when it comes to promoting or bashing a stock is false and misleading information. just telling people to buy a stock because you bought stock because you feel like it's a good company isn't market manipulation.

you're correct that high profile promoters and bashers of stocks/coins have an impact on the price, but what they do often isn't illegal, and if you just copycatted good investors over their whole career you'd make money.
