Never buy anything mass produced from Amazon. You might buy from reputable seller A, but if 100 other sellers are selling the same thing, all of that inventory is pooled together. So scammers/knock offs can get away with it while the good sellers get blamed for it. This happens with everything, even brand named tooth paste because the Chinese aren't human.

"The demand for silver may temporarily exceed available supply that is acceptable for delivery to the trust, which may adversely affect an investment in the shares.

"To the extent that demand for silver exceeds the available supply at that time, Authorized Participants may not be able to readily acquire sufficient amounts of silver necessary for the creation of a Basket.

"Baskets may be created only by Authorized Participants and are only issued in exchange for an amount of silver determined by the trustee that meets the specifications described below under 'Description of the Shares and the Trust Agreement -- Deposit of Silver; Issuance of Baskets' on each day that New York Stock Exchange Arca is open for regular trading.

"Market speculation in silver could result in increased requests for the issuance of baskets. It is possible that Authorized Participants may be unable to acquire sufficient silver that is acceptable for delivery to the Trust for the issuance of new Baskets due to a limited then-available supply coupled with a surge in demand for the shares.

"In such circumstances, the trust may suspend or restrict the issuance of baskets. Such occurrence may lead to further volatility in share price and deviations, which may be significant, in the market price of the shares relative to the net asset value.

"Risks Related to the Shares.

"A sudden increase in demand for shares that temporarily exceeds supply may result in price volatility of the shares.

"A significant change in the sentiment of investors towards silver may occur. Investors may purchase shares to speculate on the price of silver or to hedge existing silver exposure. Speculation on the price of silver may involve long and short exposures. To the extent that the aggregate short exposure exceeds the number of shares available for purchase, investors with short exposure may have to pay a premium to repurchase shares for delivery to share lenders.

"In turn, those repurchases may dramatically increase the price of the shares until additional shares are issued through the creation process. This could lead to volatile price movements in shares that are not directly correlated to the price of silver.

"The trading price of the shares has recently been, and could potentially continue to be, volatile.

"The trading price of the shares has been highly volatile and could continue to be subject to wide fluctuations in response to various factors. The silver market in general has experienced extreme price and volume fluctuations that have often been unrelated or disproportionate to factors such as silver's uses in jewelry, technology, and industrial applications, or cost and production levels in major silver-producing countries such as China, Mexico, and Peru.

"In particular, supply chain disruptions resulting from the Covid 19 outbreak and investor speculation have significantly contributed to recent price and volume fluctuations."

Precious metals are money. If you're looking to make more fiat, then just sit on them. Unlike many other markets like stock or crypto, this has an objective, undeniable supply. By buying, you've cornered a small portion of that supply that can never be taken away. This is a diminishing supply as more solar panels, cell phones, cars, batteries, and medical supplies are created and disposed. Just fucking sit on it. Don't do anything with it. If you absolutely NEED dollars to get by, try to sell it I suppose.

Private mints buy in bulk, then divide it to mint smaller bars. Mints sell those bars to dealers, who sell them to people. At the end of the day, silver is silver. By draining the supply in one area, it'll drain it from another area. There's no 'separate' silver in the world. There's silver, then things that aren't silver.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJSFIGw08OY

Dealers/mints/high-load investors are seeing VASTLY increased premiums on 1000oz bars. Usually they'd see small premiums, if any, and the premiums are now increasing.

Why are you investing in PMs in the first place ? Most of use do it for 2 reasons,
1. Store of value, the purchasing power of gold has remained consistent for millenia. Check the last thread for the math.
2. Hedge against hyperinflation. In case there is a point you need a barrel of fiat to buy bread, silver gets you the entire bakery. See Venezuela. An oz of silver buys you 1200 rolls of tp or 4 Volkswagen golfs.

Additionaly, silver prices are suppressed by the bullion banks for shits and giggles so get them now before retail price completely decouples from paper price.

As the prices go up premiums are acting weird. Generally buy as close to spot as possible- but the government rounds are trading about 8+ over spot- your biggest concern is how you liquidate when the price goes up. Make sure you've got bullion dealers who will pay a premium and not some jackass who tells you he'll give you 60% of scrap because the market may go down tomorrow. Some bullion dealers will pay over spot and those are the guys you need to find. The names in the OP are a good place to start, otherwise call around to large coin/bullion dealers in the area.

>a few gold ounces bought a mansion in weimar germany,

there is another story about weimar germany. one man took out loans in reichsmarchs. he used the loans to buy businesses like steel mills and miners. then weimar collapsed and the reichsmark was worthless. the man repaid the loans for worthless reichsmarks with the profits from his businesses and became the richest man in germany

gold is great but its not the only asset. and like you said, a few ounces of gold could buy a mansion... so you dont really need THAT much of it unless you want to buy like 20 mansions

If you thought the US was going to go the way of Venezuela you wouldn't be shitposting on /biz/, you'd be joining your local Democrat party apparatus and waving a poopdick flag. Nobody knows how things are going to fall apart, exactly, the scenarios range from something like the USSR imploding on the "calm" side to someone triggering the Samson Option and a global nuclear war on the "not calm" side.

>>28725348
>it'll be exactly like Weimar Germany
No it won't. It won't be the USSR or Venezuela or the Balkans or Germany or the Spanish civil war or the first American civil war. Circumstances, technology, demographics, are all different.

Maybe an ounce of silver will buy an acre of land or maybe Comrade Tyrone will put a bullet in your head if he catches you with an ounce of silver. Maybe the dollar gets a couple zeros lopped off and nothing else happens. Maybe Texas secedes and a couple of friendly Trident submarine crews make sure that the secession is respected.

Maybe someone pulls the reichsmark trick here >>28725652 or maybe such tricks become the exclusive domain of oligarchs or maybe such tricks get you strung from a phone pole by your foot while a mob beats you like you're full of candy.

At best, historical accounts give us signs to look for and scenarios that might happen. History doesn't repeat but it rhymes, and anyone making firm plans based on the accounts of prior social collapses is going to be in a world of hurt when their plans don't survive the first punch they take. Don't put all your eggs in one basket and then wake up as pic related with no physical, no funs, no food, or no "something" that you should have hedged.

Where exactly is the irony? Trump imposed tariffs on global powers to enrichen the United States and bring back manufacturing. The Global Powers, already resentful over their abuse of being the reserve currency and imposing pressure on what economic activity the States allowed sanctioned, ensured a Biden and Dem victory. But the threat of "Trumpism" remains, and the tables can just as easily switch again in 2024. The failure to impeach Trump means the threat of America's bullying remains, and so America must be weakened sufficiently that said outcomes threat will be minimalized.

This isn't a red team VS blue team synopsis. This is corrupt oilarchy VS corrupt globalist.

He found totally by accident a dilapidated strong box containing several hundred US $10 and $20 gold pieces as well as course gold nuggets, sticking out of the muddy creekbed. The idiot brought some of the gold to the local PD, and hid the rest. He was arrested because the police didnt believe him but was released after it was determined to be genuine, and under an agreement he would show where the rest of the gold was for a 25% finders fee. The gold than went into litigation for some reason and I lost track of the story since. The strong box was a Wells Fargo one though that I remember. I ll see if I can find anymore info after work on my desktop.

We were high on a hill side above a stream gutter and as he walked the rods crossed hard. I would dig a foot than the old boy walked back over the spot to determine the depth. You already did. You traded in your useless fiat paper money for something of actual material value. That's a profit for anyone with a working braincell.

you'll be fine. fm isn't really a dealer in the same way dedicated stores are, so i'm sure they're disproportionally struggling to catch up with the orders they saw.

It's probably going to go back up to 1,500, so if you buy it now it's not a huge gain. There's always a chance it goes to 2,000, and a very small chance that it stays where it is now. Ultimately at its current price it's not worth investing in as it is more expensive than silver and likely won't grow as much now. A week ago it was 150 dollars cheaper and well worth it, now it's kinda iffy but will likely continue increasing very slowly.
