if bitcoin hits the peak and crashes do alt coins just eat shit and drop 90% or can some of them just keep going normally?

im holding a coin that i can live off passively staking but if it drops 90% its completely pointless. i dont wanna baghold by 3 years i will already make it way before that so its totally pointless to hold it.

Every coin pretty much eats shit when BTC plummets. Stablecoins become nearly unstablecoins with all the volume going out of coins and into safety. Once BTC starts to level out, or at least loses value at a noticeably slower rate, you can look for opportunities

Also, expect alts to crash harder than BTC. If BTC loses 30% in a week you can pretty much expect alts to lose 40%, maybe more depending on the project. There was a time in 2018 where ONT would actually move inversely to BTC nine out of ten times, but it too succumbed eventually. If you've got a happy stack of a great project (aka LINK) or something you're happily staked upon, you just have to put the serious gloves on and convince yourself it'll be back and stronger eventually

Oh, and I predict the next crash to remain crashed for 1.5 years, which sucks but is better than the 3 and 6 year gaps we've witnessed
