28641563 No.28641563 [Reply] [Original]

i read the book on musk 5 years ago, and was convinced he's past his peak. he has so many personality flaws. yet now here he is, quiet probably the most influental man in the world rn. normies are all over him, and he can even afford some unexpectedly based moves/ comments every once in a while.

is he really some superhuman god who'll end up ruling the world (if he continues gaining influence at past pace that's where he's heading to be in 15 years), or is he just gonna burst sometime, normies turn away from him and die a lonely alcoholic ex-billionaire?

At this point I am literally okay with handing over full control of the earth and its resources to The Musk. Fuck it, at least he has ambition and a plan that doesn't involve eating bugs and being happy about it.

What great things has this guy done? Ok his rockets are unironically cool and manufacturing casrs is kinda nice I guess, but what are his superhumen, mose intelligent person ever stuff that reddit masturbates over? Hyperloop is a pipe-dream, his brainlink stuff will be underwhelming relative to the expectation he himself sets (superhuman computation power of the brain), given it will ever materialize as a consumer product. And no, musk will not colonize Mars, he won't even be able to put a single man on Mars.

he was always overestimating his projects. he also predicted spacex would get way further way earlier, and even after consistent failures he always kept believing he'll keep deadlines with the next one. it didn't stop him from eventually making a space endeavor more successful than any human being could make prior. i REALLY don't like his comments on AI, I THINK they're naive and always feel like coming from an amateur who never tried to implement AI himself, but at this point i wouldn't be suprised if it was still him who ends up being right

A lot of truth in this post, but the reality is that Musk is definitely not the tech genius Reddit sois obsess over. He is a one of a kind manager and salesman though, exceptional energy levels and perseverance and despite lots of gimmicks there were some notable achievements (for him as a businessman not “inventor”): reusable rocket, popularization of electric cars, long-lasting car battery

The only reason SpaceX has advanced more than NASA it's because NASA is managed by the US Government and making rocketships does not interest political elites right now.

If the government cared they could easily outperform SpaceX. What they achieved in the 60s and 70s is gargantuan.

It's also a perfect example of how private companies, which are motivated by money, can easily outperform government services which are motivated by political gain.

Also, friendly reminder that Toyota, GM and Volkswagen are doing more interesting stuff with hybrids, electric cars and alternative fuels than Tesla. Tesla cars are overhyped, overpriced and underacheiving.

Exactly. And simply considering what an unbelievable effort it was to put a handful of men on the moon tells you how outlandish the claim to colonize mars really is.

>> No.28645351

NASA already debunked SpaceX' original plans. It would take way more money and resources than what Musk people initially published.

The Mars mission is impossible right now. It's a pipe dream just like Hyperloop, Musk's magical child-saving submarines and Tesla's self-driving cars that will totally not require any human input whatsoever by 2019.

Why anyone chooses to take Musk's word at face value eludes me. His engineers work hard and do deliver nice, innovative products. But Musk's ideas are sci-fi level.
