Bancor is one of the projects testing and implementing Arbitrum. Gas should be 50x cheaper on their network when it comes out.

This may be a delusional and disconnected take, but the fees are not a big deal at all if your stack is large. They are not acceptable for the greater adoption of the ethereum network obviously, but for enterprise and big bagholders it's hardly more expensive than converting the same amount in fiat to a foreign currency or whatever. Best bet is to wait for gas optimizations and L2 solutions if fees would make a dent into your total holdings at current prices.

Even removing the incentives that keep whales staked instead of dumping on your head, such as the 2x multiplier that you lose for ANY unstake, there's at least another year of liquidity mining. But no, depositing link shouldn't be taxable because you're not trading currencies, just moving it from one place to the other. Now if you changed it from link to bnt and then deposited, yes that is taxable relative to the purchase price of your link.
