Yes, I don't have a license, I never really liked cars before.
I live in Europe and I always preferred public transport, riding in the 1st class on a train is one of the most pleasurable experiences. Most of the cities I lived in also had trams. Busses are not as comfy, but definitely worth not needing the hassle of owning a car.

Take the pay cut. Learn to live minimalistically. Actually sit down in a quiet room and think about what you honestly need, at a minimum, to be happy in life. Like, "with just this this and this, I could be happy for the rest of my life and not need anything else, if I'm being honest with myself". What would that be? The less you need the more free you will be. Happiness should be the goal at the end of the day, money can just be a means to that end but it isn't an end in and of itself. Tons of people are rich and miserable, tons of people are poor and happy. The happy immigrant landscaper and the depressed businessman are tropes for a reason.

For me, besides the basic necessities, I'm happy with just a decent computer with decent internet access, my musical instruments, weed and coffee. I cook all of my own food and grow the weed (legally where i live). Instruments were a one time purchase, guitar strings are cheap. That's all i really need to be happy, it's very low cost, but i like hanging out in my house most of the time or taking walks in nature which is also free.
