Ok, so I'm genuinely interested. The only issue is some of the early history I've been reading about as I've been doing research is kind of making me uncomfortable.

It seems the community has improved a lot over the years, so I'll give a pass to most of the stuff. The one thing I can't accept, is the premine shit that Monero looks like it's gone through from when it first branched of Bytecoin.

This is the only real concern I have though, and if someone can give me some evidence to prove that premining didn't happen, or at least didn't happen in large amounts, I'm prepared to convert the majority of my Bitcoin to Monero. XMR shills, this is your chance. Shill me.

Who cares. The real question is if the coin will make you money.

Yes, some of my concerns stem from this. I'm looking for info that might refute or clarify things.

are you fucking retarded?
This clarifies everything in autistic detail.

This doesn't clarify anything about the purposely crippled mining that came with the default miner versus the fast mine others were using.

I don't care that Monero branched off of Bytecoin. That's fine with me. As long as the community today is good, I'm okay with it. The premine stuff is what I want to have explained.

There's no convincing.
Monero is a coin for shadow markets and criminals, the public will not adopt, governments have no reason to be friendly, the common citizen doesn't need to hide their financial transactions. Just ignore and look for other coins

If it really came to it..and the Tax Authority wanted to fuck you they would just ask you to prove what happened to the money when it got sent to (your Monero) address.
>haha i dont know what your talking about
>ok lets take the current price minus the FMV of what you sent to it
>umm ahha its anonymous you cant do that!

Not a matter of trusting the government, but expecting the government and the public to not adopt this coin

Surprised nobody else ITT knows much about it. This video is a pretty good overview

Yes, there was a mining exploit hidden in the code because Monero was forked from a scam coin in 2014. However it only existed for about a month before it was patched out so the effect wasn't absolutely devastating.

I disagree. There is a place in the market for privacy coins.

Nice, this is the info I'm actually looking for. Is there an estimate on how much was mined, at least roughly?
