Reality: You won't get 8-10% APY, you'll get 4%. 4% on the $3M you'll have after cashing out your growth stock/coins to invest in dividend stock is about %120k per year. On which you pay taxes.
My current salary is about $400k per year. That's enough for my mortgage, saving for college for the kids, having a prudent health savings account and buying proper food. It's not enough for vacations. We drive clunkers. Raising a family takes money, anons. $120k is what a junior earns in my industry (software), do you think a junior lifestyle is a retirement target?
Yes, you can go live innawoods on $120k per year (before taxes) but you can't raise a family in a state where your kids can get a real education and eventually start a career.
At $10M I will retire, but before that I definitely can't afford it. If you desire anything but a Unabomber life you're kidding yourself if you think you can get away with less.
Also, I'm over 50. You guys are probably in your 20s or 30s. If you cash out $3M now and put it in dividend stock, that doesn't grow much since it's a divy stock, that $120k per year will be paltry in 10 years, not to mention 20 years. One day you're 60 and realize your $120k per year just barely covers food bills and rent on a small apartment, and you can't afford new shoes. And you have no way to improve your position. Lots of anons "making it" dreams are in fact dreams about economic despair and disaster.
