Explain to me: How does the success of a project behind a coin translate into that coins value? Ive read that there are some great projects behind coins that have terrible value and then there are the obvious pointless coins like doge that have no utility whatsoever and just get pumped.

Hypothetically, meme magic aside, how does the success of a project like Ethereum or Polkadot or Rubic relate to the value of the coin?

I just bought Everest (ID) and the project seems solid but I am terrified of the token

Marketing/hype. A shit coin with good marketing will do better than an amazing project with shit marketing.

>how does the success of a project [...] relate to the value of the coin?
It relates to some extent but probably not as much as the amount of shi^H^H^Hmarketing behind it. At least in the short-term. In the medium to long term, actually having a decent tech and a well-managed project has a longer sustained impact on the value of a token, rather than it being a flash-in-the-pan BIG HYPE pump and dump.
Saying 'the project seems solid' (re Everest) also doesn't really tie much into whether the project *is* solid - i.e., how good the tech is, what the project has demonstrated so far, who the team consists of... There are projects in the top 10 that actually have some well-delivered, cutting-edge shit that's doing some really cool stuff. But then there's also Cardano, so who knows.

it's simple, it doesn't matter if a coin is a marvel of technology, if there is no interest from buyers it's worthless
that is why meme power > technological utility every time
bitcoin too is useless as far as cryptos go

trust. all market prices are driven by trust. some exchanges even use the title "market trust" instead of "market depth" on their platforms, which is technically incorrect but it helps normies understand what they are looking at.

Yes, but no. AVAX hype was centered around their fundamentals, Rubic is a pajeet shilled trashcoin. You can notice that their marketcap keeps insignificant next to something where people SEE value in because of it's fundamentals. It doesn't need to actually have a value engraved in numbers, but indicators like tokenomics will highlight the succes and add the value of a token.
