Reminder that Melvin is completely emptying out a majority of their largest holds and the money is not going into paying out the shorts on GME, as the volume is not up, and the price has not boomed from the covering.

Either tomorrow volume skyrockets as melvin pulls a hail mary and pays out their shit by spending everything they've taken out, or they are taking their money and running for the proverbial hills financially before the rest is taken from them.
Only time can tell.
Can you feel it?
The weight of the gamble?

Right, let's turn this general from cringy redditor Q-tard "kek wills it!!!" bs and actually discuss reasons why the squaze might still squonze.

My thesis: The date is january 27th. GME price is going through the roof. Melvin knows they have to cover shorts, and they have to cover soon or start paying through the ass on interest. However, due to social media coverage, hype and elon musk tweets, the price pumps majorly. They hold off on covering shorts as doing it while the price skyrockets from 200 - 400 would be insane and would blanket bankrupt them and everyone they've ever done business with. So they wait, and wait for the hype to die down, for retail who bought at $5 to sell, for the hype and chatter to move somewhere else, organically or artificially ("reddit army pumps silver/nintendo/whatever the fuck!!"). They wait and ladder the price down as much as they can, they hope to get to the $5 the price was at initially - so far they've only managed to get it to $50. The idea is to get people to sell, sell, sell, so that when they DO have to cover, the price WILL pump in a crazy way - but there will be far fewer people who they need to pay $500 a share than there would have been had they covered at the start of February.

TL:DR - Melvin hasn't covered because paying interest and waiting for the hype to die down then paying the few remaining is smarter and costs less than paying ASAP and going bankrupt

Any water to this theory or is it just wishful thinking?

That's when the clearing houses have to take responsibility and buy the shares to cover when the trader doesn't cough them up and persistently fails to deliver.
Not completely sure if it's effectively 13 though. Reading the regs. It might be 13 days + normal amount of days to settle (3). That is, 16 from date of the trades. Since they don't fail to settle or fail to deliver until the 3 day settlement period expires. Not sure though.
Regs: https://www.sec.gov/investor/pubs/regsho.htm
"Rule 203(b)(3) of Regulation SHO requires that participants of a registered clearing agency must immediately purchase shares to close out failures to deliver in securities with large and persistent failures to deliver, referred to as “threshold securities,” if the failures to deliver persist for 13 consecutive settlement days."

The QRD is that there is reason to believe the shorts were never executed and thus the short squeeze has not happened. We haven't seen volume to suggested that Melvin Capital executed their short positions. Some people think that Melvin got that $3B loan from their guarantor Citadel and used it to just pay the interest on the Short positions while Citadel engaged illegal market manipulation tactics and FUD spreading to try and lower the price. Too many retards didn't sell and Melvin is running out of time, the shorts need to be executed by day 14 which is tomorrow. Melvin may be forced to execute their positions at what price the market dictates tomorrow or Monday.

That's the QRD. Some people think that Melvin took their losses and is out of their position. The true story is somewhere in-between and very few people actually know what is going on.

It might skyrocket but at the same time nothing might happen-no one know what cards Melvin is still holding in their hand and if the house loses and goes bankrupt they'll like just change the rules on us.

Melvin entered into a short position closing on Jan 31 for GME at probably around the $4 market. We know it was Melvin because of their financial disclosures and people were drawn to this information because the saw that 140% of existing shares were being shorted (That's a whole nother thing. Illegal counterfeiting was definitely taking place but laws don't apply to hedgies). We can infer their strike price was probably somewhere around $4 or $5ish because GME had been below $10 for months.

A short contract means that Melvin entered into a contract to borrow shares from shareholder (They don't even know their shares are being borrowed) at current market price of around $10 sometime in December with the contractual obligation to give the shares back to the lenders at the end of January. Melvin HAS TO purchase the shares at whatever price at the close of Jan 31. They may have closed or they may have delayed it at the cost of billions of dollars in interest. Tomorrow or Monday would be the absolute last day they can and we're still nowhere near the $4 or $5 Melvin would need to close their positions profitably.

This is what they want. Demoralize people so that they sell at a lower price. Before people were dead set on 1000 per share minimum now people are content on selling at sub 300. A 70% decrease in what I have to pay all because I paid some goons to shill and scare people instead of the potential billions I will lose if these tards price it at 1000 and up? Hell yes.

Isn't this false. There's no hard date of when they have to provide the shares back. In theory they can be forced to but there's no way someone of their size will be forced to do anything. They'll work with everyone to cause the least amount noise and hassle for everyone.

For zoomers imagine you bought a trailer load of fidget spinners and you think can sell them for $10 a piece. You set up up a webstore and will start selling these in two weeks (That will be Jan 31). Well Mr. Hedgie thinks that fidget spinners will be selling for $4 a piece by then so what he does is secretly takes all the fidget spinners and sells them and in two weeks he has to replace them. Jan 31 comes and Hedgie has to return your fidget spinners before you notice but now they're $50 a piece - he has no choice but to buy another trailer load on that date for whatever price they are selling. $100, $500, $1000 whatever price. In fact Hedgie bought 140% of all fidget spinners in existence.

But Hedgie isn't alone, he has financial guarantors like the clearing house and Citadel who fund his operations and allow him access to capitol. Hedgie can't just say sorry goy I'm out of money, he's potentially bankrupted himself, his guarantors and his lending houses and the big banks that prop them up.

Regular settlement time is 3 days and the failure to deliver is 13 days past that. Tomorrow is 13 days from settlement.
Either nothing is about to happen or we're about to see an ultra shit hit the fan scenario. Based on my previous experiences nothing ever happens.

>> No.28498893

Failure to deliver doesn't mean much. They can agree to extend the settlement dates. Michael Burry already talked about this when he recalled his GME shares back in December and said that the settlement times were much longer than unsual. He said he expects future recalls to be extended. People really need to stop spreading stuff like this because it makes people think something is absolutely going to happen on a given date and when it doesn't, it continues to suck the air out of this thing.

Correct, the only problem is Melvin has to pay out interest the entire time. Really it's a matter of time for them, the long the price remains at 50 the more they bleed. Eventually there will be a point reached where its going to cost more to pay the interest then just buying up the stock needed to cover the shorts.

There's a few issues even with this. We don't know what the loan they got was used for. Maybe it was to pay for interest, maybe it was to close out some of their position and cover heavy losses. That's not just with Melvin but with anyone else who shorted extremely low. The other thing is that they can likely pay that interest for a decent while longer. There's a good portion of all this where we're completely in the dark making assumptions, which is fine, but people need to at least stop with the wild bull statements. There's no guarantee that even if it does blow up again, that it reaches the heights it did two weeks ago. The theory and fundamentals says that it can go to the moon but it's pretty clear they don't apply to GME for now. Look how many unprecedented things happened last time GME mooned.

Not going to lie, I'm salty I didn't get in early. The day it became news I believe it was at around $200 per share. I thought that was too high to buy in and was waiting for it to drop to $150 or so. Then it nearly a day later it skyrocketed to $400+ and Robinhood shut it down. I was in the processing of setting up a Fidelity account but it was already too late and the bubble popped.

So basically most normies had a 1 day window to get in and make huge gains unless you actively browsed stock market communities daily. There was a 2nd wave but I was already convinced it was over and didn't participate. Doubt we'll see a stock make such gains again. Ah well, it's not like I had the money to put in enough to see some life changing results anyway. I could've maybe gotten a few grand at best.

This one expectation is where this entire plan fails through because you know better. They don't have to pay a goddamn thing. They are higher up on the ladder than you and will get out of paying out a dime.

That's why the price dropped as in such a crazy ass manner. That's why the SEC is beginning an investigation on the RISE of GME and not the FALL. That's why the game is completely rigged and that's why you guys aren't getting a damn thing.
