Where should I keep my savings? Right now I have 30k sitting in a checking account and it’s not earning any meaningful interest. Crypto is too volatile and you have to worry about taxes. Would I be better off putting it in a CD?

Is 30k all you have? That’s sounds good for an emergency fund. Anything in retirement?

or better yet, put it in silver....which is severely undervalued. you'll make some good money on silver over the next 10 years if you can hang on. every future tech is going to need a shit ton of silver: electric vehicles, solar paneling, batteries, hospitals, to name a few.

Sitting comfy on my stack of various consumer staples defensive stocks with low beta. Then some boomer tier dividend plays, mining, insurance, basic materials, some retail, and stuff. Then some tech growth like AMD.

Some absolutely not exciting and boring plays worth researching which could bring not bad returns free from pnd reddit BS - hearing aid like Demant (jumped 11% after earnings), GN Store Nord, dental/orthodontic equipment, junior miners, and things like that.

If you're talking about your emergency fund, just keep it in your checking account. Savings accounts are a scam, the rates on CDs are also trash, and they screw you over when you try to cash out early, which is the entire point of a emergency fund in the first place. You might as well just put the money into Boomer ETFs at that point.
That being said, are your monthly expenses really $5k? Because you should only have six months max in your emergency fund. Stop being a coward and start investing.
You generally only pay taxes when you cash out or make exchanges. Buying with fiat and HODLing doesn't trigger tax events.
