Where do you store your cryptos /biz/?

Since my portfolio just hit $500k I got this Ledger Nano S a few days ago, already loving it.

Simple setup and easy to use.

Yeah, but you can only put so many applications on it due to memory restriction
If you have BTC & ETH, forget about installing DOT or Cardano
You could always, uninstall / reinstall apps but that sucks a lot
Or you could buy the Nano X
I went with 2 Nano S instead

As a mathematician once told me, the probability that you will fuck up a situation once it is in your hands is significantly higher than the consensus of the status quo.

In other words the safest option is to not own crypto at all.

If I buy Ledger from a 3rd party, how can I make sure the device has not been tampered by them? Are there security/verification steps to ensure that my Ledger is 100% safe to use?

I'm a newfag when it comes to hard wallet. Thanks, anons.

You can, but signing transactions offline and moving them to an online system to broadcast is kind of a hassle.
A ledger can be connected to metamask und you can easily swap shitcoins or engage in defi scams conveniently.

Either your ledger is fake or it has been tampered with
- if it's fake, the fact that the device is not genuine will be recognized by Ledger Live (unfalsifiable cryptographic check)
- if it has been tampered with: the only way to access the seed phrase is to set a PIN code, which means you'll find a pre-set PIN code inside the box. throw that shit away or sent it back immediately, never use it.

I use Signata, because you can buy several yubikeys for cheaper than the other hardware devices.
