Valid point, but I mean what are the weaknesses of the project that would not make you invest in it.I see Cardano, Iota and Ethereum as the direct competition (a good thing in Defi) for being the platform that allows smart contracts, Defi, etc but in my opinion Polkadot is the most solid in terms of blockchain interoperability.

I have an interest in DOT, but I'm waiting for a better entry.
And I'm seeing this fud about ceo being a pedo.

There was not need to re-invent the wheel there. They took the basis of ouroboros algorithm and make some adjustment to the polkadot network. I'm not saying that copying the same protocol is a good thing but is something you could have expected in open source projects.

Gavin? If that's all the fud they have against the project, it's pretty weak.

this thread makes me really happy. remember always do the opposite of what biz says. Also if you are into DOT look into Kusama as well, very important for the dev space.

I'm a senior dev and was looking to port out project over to Kusama/Polkadot to take advantage of their Dev grants programme.

Let me tell you, developing on DOT is convoluted as shit. You have to jump through double the hoops because they don't just offer a RUST framework, they use Substrate which itself is a separate Rust framework, with its own intricacies.

Right now it's auristically hard to build and maintain something utilitarian on DOT and desu I'm feeling despair.

Samefagging, don't get me wrong it's not impossible of course, but it's disproportionately hard compared to Ethereum or NEO, where they offer you an IDE+Debugger+Testnet and let you go to town.

when i say "friend" it's like one of those guys that you're acquaintances that acts nice to your face then talks to your ex after you break up with her

DOT isn't a competitor to ETH, ADA or any other smart contract coin. Smart contracts aren't built on DOT. DOT exist as a central blockchain to validate it's parachains. The idea behind DOT is that most cryptos are either good at only one thing (bitcoin) or capable of doing many things but never well or efficiently(eth). DOT takes care of the decentralized and security part of the equation and provides interoperability for it's parachains. It's also used as the governance token for protocol to allow for flexibility with out hardforks
