what im mostly in on:
TAKOF - drone delivery that made a 'partnership' with a canadian airline.
NIO - chinese tesla, need i say more
WIMI - chink holograms for AR, advertisements and more
CMPS - medicinal psych treatments, think where weed was a couple of years ago. received a breakthrough therapy status.
CRSR - good earnings, new products coming out, big boom since everyone was stuck at home.

im not in on but might jump on NOK, 5G and 6G are going to be a big thing obviously, and the EU and US have already made alliances for 6G which dont include china.

do your own DD ofc these are just some suggestions to look at.

We are plenty far from the top it seems.

Would you hedge with puts, anon? The price seems pretty excessive. At least it's guaranteed and unline a stop loss (more like guarantee loss), it does not get triggered by a small crash like today.

I think we go down, inflation is actually looking up which is going to be a massive boon to the market as people start dumping dollar for foreign until they can buy the dip on bonds. I can see rates either going up or down and both being extremely bearish for the market. One signals a reversal in the inflation narrative, the other signals the dropping of USD assets to purchase goods instead.

>>28324466
Because low yields are only sustainable with a positive outlook for the dollar as that drives foreign reinvestment from USD holdings, yet the world is massively short USD right now. Yuan oil futures have been consistently rising as a percent of total market participation, meaning china has built a competitive reserve system within their financial markets.

>>28324560
Inflation goes too up, bonds are bearish and they would rather just spend the USD then hold depreciating assets.

No it's not. From its introduction in 2018, gold backed yuan oil futures markets have captured nearly 19% of total oil trading. That is massive.

PMs, to an extent, yes, that's been the case over the past year. BTC, ETH, to the extent that some retail and big money are willing to stomach the risk, yes, we can clearly see the returns. But I think the majority has simply turned up their nose and have been buying the past year because what else is there to do until rates rise?

>>28325096
True, but the US is also the provider of global military and geopolitical hegemony, and all of the benefits that that ensures. China has been slowly economically outbidding us through its Eurasian and African initiatives, but they're not up to par yet... yet. It is in everyone's interest that the US does not fail until it has a true global socioeconomic, cultural, geopolitical and military hegemonic power ready to fill the vacuum. China is not it.

Is right. I don't see a crash anytime soon. I'm bullish with some safety OTM puts. I would be planning to rotate out of any re-open stocks once euphoria of the re-open hits and the pent up demand starts being satiated.

I'm not trying for the rotation play personally. I'm just sitting in tech like goog, etc that will have some advertisement rebound as well.

It's really weird, but I'm guessing this keeps going for months still. I think the hard play would be getting out of everything reopen play wise and into the secular growers at the top or near it.

I expect a massive euphoria still into re-opening once the pent up demand starts hitting. That would be the timing to deleverage and be conservative. I'm only inching towards that type of play but I'm already in tech and never tried the tech->re-open->tech trade

I don't see any stoppage to the bull market for months unless it really starts to run too hot

Yes. One thing to keep in mind with the semi industry is that there's also a lot of (mis)perception around technology nodes, both from a performance perspective and their margins/manufacturing yield. Companies like TSM will have to spin-up new foundries to replace old ones as they re-tool said existing lines for their latest process technologies. That means that another way to play the semi industry, at times like these, is to invest in their fab suppliers. Semi companies make their profits off of their older technologies, not their newer nodes.

It's a K-shaped recovery, creating two distinct economies which interact but aren't as integrated. The top 0.1% already lived in a different economy and had different economic concerns than the remaining 99.9%, now we're seeing part of the economy turbocharge itself into the 2030s while households stuck in a 1980s economy stay stuck.

Whereas support for the normal people has to come through the US government, where turtleman (Mitch McConnell) will just play politics. I don't know how through this is, but McConnell is quoted as saying, "you're confusing me for someone who cares." He also laughed during his debate when pressed on stimulus.

A month or so ago, I looked into the price of shipping a car from Clapistan to Chinese Taipei (I was asking for a friend). Just this morning, I got an unsolicited e-mail from the shipping company talking about how the ports are still backed up and reminding me of the daily rates they charge in case they have to store my car before shipment for some period of time for whatever reason on my end. That is a bullish sign for current demand levels.

Reddit is unironically just dumb money that the big money used for liquidation and now they're making bank on the shorts while the "diamond hands" just sits there. The fact that people still believe retailers are in any kind of control is kind of sad

>> No.28334311

>>28332234
Some of it is rebounding from the supply shock last year, and some of it is the result of repressed discretionary spending flowing into goods. That's what I was saying: that people are already capable of spending on goods, if they want to. And, it's those people that have the discretionary income to spend right now (upper socioeconomic classes) that drive consumer spending in the first place. The point being made was that we already reopened last year, minus a few sectors, so that said spending and demand increases are being spread out over a period of time; hence, no demand shock, just prolonged recovery with an initially decaying period of excess demand.

I also wonder if we're seeing a change in supply chain logistics within the US, wherein retailers transition away from the just-in-time model to a more sogo shosha-like model: excess stock to alleviate supply shortages in the future.

I don't use SPY or QQQ as my personal benchmark any more. If I don't think a stock will beat 3% a month I drop it and use that money to buy-write whatever memestock looks like it actually has some fundamentals.
