Does anyone here actually run a business or have side hustles? Independent contractors welcome too I guess. Lets hear about them this anon is interested.
Somehow I doubt there are many on this board as they likely have better things to do but lets see

Well, nobody else is replying, so I will. I've started3 businesses in my life and none made me rich. In my failings, I have learned that sales is the single most important factor in business. If you're not bringing in new customers, youre ngmi.

I learned this too when I had mine. That and I'm not nearly as self disciplined as I thought. I work much better as a cog on a gear in the machine.

I would actually say sales is something they can do fairly competently.

Yes. I do contract work, checking data cosistency(I hate that but it's very stable money right now).I sell shit on RedBubble, relative nice low maintanance passive money. I made some mobile games that do not create much money anymore and I am working on a new one. Besides that I do some day trading sometimes.

Most people try to start business on the shittiest ideas. 99.99999% of business ideas are so obviously doomed to fail that I don't even know how they find the motivation to put so much time and money into them.

I've been told that everyone has ideas and mine aren't special so many times, but since I learned what counts as an "idea" for other people I just fucking laugh at that statement. The idea is the most important part by far. Ignore everyone who tells you that you just need to put in the work and you can make money off of anything. I can guarantee you that most people have absolutely no fucking clue how to make money besides wagecucking, and that they could never in their life come up with anything worthwhile at all.
