The people running these countries aren't stupid. I'm sure they have reasons for this, probably related to retaining control over populace

They’re only banning crypto to keep their people poor. Load up on Elastos, chinas billionaires will be using it.

Average middle class Nigerian salary is like $400-$600 per month. 23% of the Nigerian population is middle class apparently. So that's 46,000,000 people.

Let's just say 10,000,000 people. If even 1/2 of them buy Bitcoin with 10% of their annual salary, that's (5000000*40)/month = $200,000,000 in Bitcoin purchased per month.

Of course, this is the extreme upper upper bounds. But a growing African country doesn't have strength in individual purchasing power, but have a strength when combined, since the population growth is absolutely egregious. And, they were already on mass-cryptocurrency adoption trajectory, more so than most other countries.

Like it or not, this is a kind of big deal, contrary to the other anons who dismiss it because "Nigeria = niggers = poor".

Not the rich. They are probably holding and accumulating. Think Dangote-type rich but not publically exposed.
