Seeing as Tether is partially backed by USD, on paper they'll have to dump BTC on the market to regain liquidity.

In reality they'll just close up shop and walk away with the bitcoin while leaving the market with hundreds of billions of dollars of worthless tokens that you can't redeem for USD. Paolo is the only person at that company with a face, the others are literally all anonymous pseudonyms.

Bernie Madoff "only" scammed $65 billion in his record-breaking ponzi. If Tether goes to 0, that's already 30 billion, but you have to assume BTC is going back to sub-10k and most alts propped up by tether are going -90%. That's an instant loss of at least 800 billion dollars. It'll be the biggest exit scam in the history of finance.

Tether fud has never left because Tether is one of the most shady companies in existence and has created a trillion dollar market out of some hot air and FOMO. Even most BTC bulls admit they're blatant scammers. But they've become so integral to the entirety of crypto and make up such a huge percentage of the pumps and fomo that it's become taboo to talk about it.

So many people were invested with Madoff that they didn't want to believe their 15-20% annual returns were fake. They completely blinded themselves with greed.
