The NYAG was supposed to decide what to do next on the 15th of January, but instead postponed the decision by a month at the request of iFinex.

That means, we will know what they plan to do with Tether next week: either leave it alone or hit it with a hammer.

In that one month extension, Tether printed a further $4bil USDT (lol), taking its total market cap to $28bil.

It'll also be the last week before Chinese New Year 2021. If it's a nothingburger, it's time to go all in now, pedal to the metal, as USDT printing will now be unhinged and we shoot straight to $100k within a month. If it's going to be a legal battle, expect every crypto to crash 80-90% within days and exchanges to suspend withdrawals and go offline for "maintenance".

Place your bets biz, what's it gonna be?

If it was, the Tether lawyer and CTO wouldn't have spent the last month on social media doing damage control and cringe memes to thank people for their "support". It's pretty big but it could go either way.

I hope this for years now. Tether is also artificially spamming the ethereum network so that people use CEXes instead of defi. Tether is responsible for 40% of all ETH trasnactions. If tether dies we will be back at 1$ transactions.

Transaction fees? We talkin ‘bout fees? Fees? Not the price. Fees. We talkin’ ‘bout fees.

When Tether dies ETH will be back at $1.

Its funny how you lament the Tether problem as it applies to your cypto fees, but skip over the problem that your crypto price is inflated by and with Tether.

No it will not. .... It will crash at first, but then it will moon hard. Imagine all the Tether holders wanting to exit? Guess in which projects they will put their money? They will all buy BTC, ETH and AMPL. AMPL will be a top 10crypto if tether dies.

Nothing will happen - it will either get postponed or they will not do anything to them at all.
Yet, it would be fun to watch if they would fuck retailers for the second time in 2021.

>> No.27986596

If Tether dies, the biggest holders are the exchanges themselves. Nobody will be buying or selling anything, and those with BTC on fiat exchanges will cash out because the buying pressure worldwide will evaporate. This will trigger a feedback loop as everyone rushes to sell.

It's a nothingburger, but Tether is eventually going to collapse and people are going to finally understand what inflation really is - expanding money base MULTIPLIED BY number of transactions per day. With every Tether approaching 8 transactions per day, if USDT goes to 0 we will see a market wide collapse in weeks. I expect a 90%+ correction on BTC and most alts will go to 0. The movies about it will be great though. Crypto will eventually recover if it doesn't get regulated into obscurity by the government "protecting" people.

If USDT goes down, USDC will takeover and subsequently so will XLM and Algorand which the USDC would be operating on.

They have only a fraction of the market cap. Almost all off USDT was minted out of thin air and can't be transferred to other stablecoins. It just doesn't exist.

It's not about stablecoin: those are just middlemen between crypto and fiat.

It's about the BUYING PRESSURE. If it turns out a majority of the buying was from exchanges using coins minted for essentially zero cost, once that is removed the selling pressure will overwhelm the buying and collapse everything, including every single coin currently staked in DeFi.

Yeah, this is the sole reason I've held off from aping into the 3pool on CURVE. The returns look amazing but if tether goes down the entire liquidity pool is fucked.
