Regarding gas fees. You only need to pay the gas fee ONCE for connext. After the channel is open you can deposit straight to the channel. So you pay gas once to open the channel then you just leave the channel open.

Yeah if they use Connext where would they exchange? If they want to trade on a decentralized exchange, they need to use Stakenet. If they want to use a centralized exchange, they can use connext and send money to that centralized exchange.

Now, why would they send that money anywhere when they can use stakenet and exchange right in their wallet?
So if CEX wants to capture any trading volume in the new paradime, they need to run stakenet masternodes to earn trading fees. They already have the liquidity so they won't have an issue with that. The trading fee structure of stakenet is 45 LP 45 MN and 10% xsn burn. So CEX would get 90% and they just need to put up capital which they have plenty of.

As for channel liquidity, hubs will provide this for small traders. Large whales can do peer 2 peer trades with the taker pays maker fee model and it all works with no channel liquidity.

100BTC for 2500 ETH trade can be done by opening a channel and both side fund the whole thing. Exchange secret and boom done. No need channel liquidity when doing peer to peer trades.

Obviously most trades are going to be sub 0.1 BTC size. These trades will use channels provided by hubs and ofc they have the liquidity for this and they pay for it by channel rentals.
