BTC finally woke up and jumped past 39k. Generally BTC and alts yo-yo between each other pumping in a bull market, so when BTC started making moves, a bunch of people all sold their alts into BTC because they think alt season is over. So basically when BTC has a big pump, alts dump or bleed out.

I have no idea which way this will go from here though. I just keep a mixed portfolio and don't try to time swings from BTC to alts or vice versa.

to be fair, the idea of using bitcoin directly for purchasing normal goods/services was always a meme. Don't get me wrong, it's good that the functionality is there, but it's never really mattered. I'm not going to make direct purchases with something that's constantly fluctuating in value. And most importantly, I'm not going to spend away something with a fixed-supply that's basically guaranteed to continue gaining in value in the long term, rather than instead using my dirty fiat to purchase stuff, since fiat is guaranteed to continue losing value. Even if the issues with fees and transaction times didn't exist, I still wouldn't ever spend BTC on purchases, because I'd rather throw away fiat for those things.

>> No.27880456

>>27879860
that's not really btc disadvantages, that's an inflating vs deflating currency problem.
Inflation is on purpose for that reason, to get people to spend.

I've always seen btc as like a savings account, then you exchange small amounts so something faster to spend for the week. It can and probably will work well that way

I know. That's why I think the focus on doing direct payments for small-ticket items is silly. It doesn't matter whether or not satoshi originally intended for it to be used for buying cups or coffee or whatever, the properties of it simply make that not a good idea. But having the functionality there at the base level as a last resort is still good, just in case.

>I've always seen btc as like a savings account
Exactly my perspective. My plans for the end of this bull run are to swing everything into USDC, stake on DeFi, and use portions of it to pay for everyday things via a crypto-backed debit card. Then when the bear market bottoms out, I buy back into BTC/ETH/LINK/etc
