I have no idea what these people are talking about. I bought ETH back when 4ch was only accepting it for 4ch passes.
I had to buy $100 worth, and paid $20 to 4ch. I waited a year, and came back to re-up my pass, and I had $150 in ETH. I knock it back down to $130, and wait another year.
This year I log in to coinbase, and I've got $600 in fucking ETH. All from what was essentially $80.
I have no idea how I'd ever convert any big gains to real money, so I steer clear of major investments in crypto, but I do look at this and think "shit fuck, if I'd have really invested in it..."

But I only see these things as investments. The real world application of this crypto stuff is yet to be seen. I don't even know what 'gas' is.
