The idea with limit price is that you see the stock rising, say at 80$, and you put a limit sell at 85$, hopping that it will reach that, and knowing that you will get the full 85 if it happens? you can set a stop limit, which will sell at your limit price and will sell at the stop price if it reaches that so if it was worth 80 dollars you could put a stop limit in for $85 dollars and $79, it will sell at whichever it gets to first.
