Crypto can't be banned; code is protected under free speech and while that wouldn't necessarily stop Uncle Sam from trying, the reaction to such a draconian measure would.

So the only thing that's needed for altcoins to remain viable is for there to be a reliable path from a regulated coin like Bitcoin to Monero.
With future improvements it's unlikely cross coin transactions and dexes can be stopped fundamentally.
Which means all that's is needed is for Bitcoin to remain fungible enough for there not to be whitecoins and blackcoins, so you can take atomic swap and dex traded coins into regulated exchanges without fear of getting fucked.
If bitcoin wasn't such a shit coin and had an ounce of privacy there's be a lot less anxiety.
