I am a 31-year-old man who is struggling to find happiness in life due to the nature of my work.

I have an adoring Mrs and child, a roof over my head. I'm intelligent, popular, articulate.

However, the nature of my work (which I do from home since lock down) and the company I work for makes it difficult to appreciate any of it.

It is wagie work, where I am easily replaceable, and outside my of my hours (I work night shifts) I do not take my work with me.

However, the stress and mental exhaustion of the job means that I spend most of my free time in a detached stupor, and sometimes I feel on the verge of a complete breakdown.

It is a question which has been asked many times - how to make money working from home - but perhaps not with such modest aspirations.

I could feasibly live on £1300 - £1500 a month and would be willing to work hard for that.

My skills before this job were mostly in video and design work. I was a television producer for 3 years, managed a small film studio following that. And while my CV is fairly impressive, it would appear that the supply far outweighs the demand.

I am intelligent, highly computer literate and willing to learn new skills.

What options, if any, would you say I have?

To follow up on this, you could try your hand at being a product photographer for advertisements, or an event/wedding photog & videog. Consistent demand in those areas for freelancers.

Have you looked into UX/UI design? That’s what I do. I discovered it in college when I was in the same position as you (had some creative juices and highly computer literate but not necessarily an engineer)

Given the currency, I assume you're at work now? What do you do?

Im 31 this year, WFH, mrs/child and another on the way. It is sales however, in insurance, and had a solid 2021. You get what you put into it, and its not bad work but defenitly wagie and replaceable though finding a decent agent is impossible these days.

Hang in there, if you're smart somthing will come up. I bet you didn't even search yet.

Hello fellow wagie. We are in a bull market for crypto. It is not too late to learn. I am also 31, and lost everything after a breakup. My life crumbled and burned as I went "REEEEEEE" but I have had a couple coins 2x, and now have a small little glimmer of hope that I can rebuild.

I come not to shill you a coin, but to suggest that you look into crypto in general. Working at home gives us an edge as we can watch the charts constantly and hawk biz. We then have time to do research to weed the pajeet scams from the legitimate projects we would like to invest in.

Best of luck, anon. We will make it someday.

I'm in a similar situation at the same age (no spawn though). I was thinking of starting a web hosting business and resell through another hosting company to start. I actually just bought a domain and everything.

I honestly think a nob in the gob for an hour a day - as long as it wasn't an AIDsy one - would be preferable to what I'm doing now.

>>27777759
I should look into this really as I did excel in the industry. However I worked in a busy television studio where it was more about developing efficient systems and working to deadlines. I fear a lot of fat Indian kids could create more stylish work than me for half the price. I certainly won't rule it out though. Especially marketing materials for small businesses.

I've never heard of it, will look it up. Cheers.

I risk revealing too much, but fuck it. I do live traffic journalism in the USA. It is an American company but they operate from the UK - imo because we're overeducated and willing to accept shitty pay. I appreciate it.

Fair point

>>27778464
It is something I would consider. How much do you think I would need to initially invest to get myself into a position where I can draw out £1300 a month though, with shrewd trading?

Long distance education, in higher ed and k-12 is exploding and was before Covid. If you have video and computer skills, just find a University or College thats getting into the eLearning markets, they're new and need help. There's eLearning operations in cities all over the country. Mostly nice college towns too!

I don't currently but truthfully, I earn enough disposable to start putting in a moderate amount each month to build a portfolio. As much as I'd like a way to get out of what I'm doing quick, having anything to look forward to would make it more bearable.

Yeah I mean, it doesn't seem to hard. I was thinking of cold calling local businesses and offering ot build them a website for free if they shift their hositng to mine. I'm not sure what a good monthly charge would be though. Would $10-$15 be pushing it?

You need more to offer anon. What do you mean by "I am intelligent"? Are you actually high IQ? Or are you just industrious?
