The fees are that high because of how much tx activity there is, it's a sign of growth. The more people competing to have their txs included in a timely manner, the higher the fees. It's because of how successful eth and its defi is.

Fees are not a good thing. Don't be retarded. Its just pent up demand for better chains. AKA Polkadot.

>DeFi is very exciting for Ethereum but in a weird way is actually really really bullish in my mind for systems like Polkadot or Dfinity that are from an engineering perspective just candidly far ahead of Ethereum. [...] And so I do think we'll see a lot of DeFi migrate from Ethereum to Polkadot

>>27752461
Yeah we get it, its successful. Ethereum is great. But it's completely outgrown its capacity and needs second layer solutions ASAP or defi will not gain widespread adoption.

>>27751165
Eth in a network. Polkadot is a meta-network that eth could easily be bridged to. The creator of Polkadot is one of the main creators and contributors to Eth and has no intention of killing it. Polkadot was designed to complement it. However, polkadot is a more mature model, what he later thought eth should be. The network is much more exclusive. Meaning only high profile projects will be able to gain access to it and only the successful will be able to continue. Kusama, it's sister network, is much more relaxed and will allow for a more open and experimental version of Polkadot.

>> No.27753148

>>27751165
No.. but it will eventually be used a lot more than Eth and will also be able to connect to Eth blockchains, I'm sure each will have their own use cases long term.

The are currently 900 million DOT. 60% of that is locked on staking and 30% is allocated for the founders.

Essentially there are 90 million DOT that can freely traded on the open market.

Now keep in mind that once parachain auctions launch, the DOTs that will be raised for the parachain slot will be locked for at least 12 to 24 months and returned back to investors or held in the parachain to keep the parachain slot, and thus millions of more DOT will be locked away from being dumped on the open market. There will only be 100 parachain slots so, there will be HUGE FOMO.

DOT will also be locked in DeFi projects built on polkadot for liquidity which will remove more DOT from the market and make the supply scarce.

Also, as more people stake their DOT the minimum amount of DOT need to stake also rises. Now you will need AT LEAST 120 DOT just to stake and as more people stake the more DOT you will need in order to be able to stake.

The tokenomics of polkadot and the amount of support it gets from crypto platforms like binance, kraken, kucoin is excellent.

No, I don't think any of the "eth killers" will actually kill eth. Hell, polkadot isn't even advertising itself as an eth killer, and instead working alongside it. ETH's first-mover advantage and network effects are just too significant to overcome.

That said, the threat of "eth killers" is a good thing because it incentivizes the lazy commie spaghetti coders at the ethereum foundation to actually get off their asses and deliver a working product. I guarantee that if it weren't for DOT/ADA, ETH2.0 would be even farther away.

Lol keep coping but polkadot launched this summer and already has more projects than Cardano, AVAX, EOS and all these other "eth killers" combined. New DeFi projects are being built on polkadot and existing DeFi projects like sushiswap are switching from ETH network over to polkadot.

>> No.27756849

The idea of PolkaDot 'Killing' Eth is so fucking stupid. Both Vitalik and Gavin have said it will boost the whole fucking DeFi landscape and lay the foundations for web3. Polkadot applications have a bridge to Ethereum and vice versa meaning they will both co-exist.

There are only 100 parachains on Dot (20 this year) meaning slots for a parachains are extremely rare. Not every project that is claiming to be on DOT will manage to get a parachain, but the ones that do will moon. The ones that don't will still have a bridge to dot via MoonBeam or Plasm, or they could apply for a parathread (shitty parachain). I'm heavily invested in the Dot ecosystem, Dot and DeFi will be the leaders of this bullrun.

i literally have no idea what polkadot is. its not immediately apparent which is a huge concern.

the only reason i knew anything was because you said it was an eth killer so i assumed it was a platform for minting improved versions of erc20 tokens.

it just doesnt have the right branding or marketing to gain mass adoption among techies or be a flagship for crypto. get some gains and gtfo out of it, youre lucky you saw my posts.

Didn't go with any Crust, got lots of Phala, Sora and ChainX. Also own Polkastarter and Reef but they aren't bidding for a parachain anytime soon.

I've applied for the BiFrost token minting which starts soon, they should be getting a parachain. Also got my eye on Acala, MoonBeam and Plasm when they do public sales.

imagine chainlinkproject if you need help seeing the differing levels of legitimacy.

so what is it, is it polka ? is it polkadot ?

nobody knows. the images you posted with the little diagram of arrows going to this and that, thats called being plugged into itself.

when a crypto promises everything its called being plugged into itself. when the economy of the platform is rewarding users with something to further participate in the project, youve got a financial perpetual motion machine.

the laws of physics and economics prohibit this.
