To people that have maxed out their credit cards yet still eat out multiple times a week, his basic advice is still useful. It's not even advice, it's common sense but you underestimate the amount of financially illiterate retards who can't even come up with a basic budget, let alone adhere to it.

Boomers need to be told to get out of debt, because it's impossible for them to live with in their means.

When I worked for Toyota so many dumb boomer would walk through the door buy a brand new Camry 0% down 4% interest for 36 month for $30k and have a big fat payment on a boring normie car, why not just buy one that's two years old for literally half the price, its a fucking Camry the cockroach of cars it won't have any problems.

Depends how hardcore you take his messages.
Having your house paid off is comfy, but when mortgage interest is only like 2%, you'd make WAY more money if you invested it instead of paying off the house as quickly as possible. Like a difference of millions of dollars in the long run.

His autistic hate of credit cards is also legitimately bad advice for anyone other than people who are addicted to spending like a coke addict. Just because a debt collector insulted his manhood doesn't mean that credit cards have no benefits. Having credit cards helps your credit score and even if you never intend to use your credit score it will help you finding a place to rent, get you cheaper car insurance, among other benefits. Otherwise having a higher interest rate because you refused to ever have a credit card is throwing money away.

>> No.27680795

>>27677456
It's too bad he doesn't give much good financial advice. Just parrots the same shit that (should) be incredibly obvious. Even as a kid I knew it was bad to put yourself hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt, and to avoid credit cards if you have to pay interest, and to spend less/save more, but I guess some weak willed idiots need to hear it day after day after day.

Credit card question.

I'm 33, never had a credit card, and only used debit card. Never have held debt. I did have a significant amount of parental help during a burn out period. Figure I should build up my credit and I like the cash back, even if miniscule.

Would using one card to autopay bills, even one, such a single $15 netflix subscription a way to build credit?

Theres 3 levels

The first is retard level. Get a card, charge hundreds to it and pay it off immediately. Put it in a drawer and forget about it.

Second level. Get a card, treat it like a debit card and use it for large purchases like groceries or something. Pay it off right afterward

Third level. Use it for virtually everything, pay it off at the end of the month

Also pro tip for US anons, get rid of your debit card

I am curious about why not to use a debit card?

Recently learned that when a credit card of debit card that is stolen and used for fraud, the company or individual who sold you those items are out their money, not the credit or debit card's.

So, purely under the law they have to reimburse you for both. However, if there is a """history""" of payments, say 1 dollar charges you miss, and then you get wiped out, credit has to reimburse debit doesnt.

Its because with credit they arent actually reimbursing you, its their money you're borrowing and their money being stolen.

Im not sure this is applicable to every debit card and bank but thats the baseline law

Thank you for the detailed explanation!

My card has a Visa logo on it. I asked about it to my bank and they said that the card protects me from fraudulent purchases in the same way.

I also have overdraft turned off. Burned through that one on several occasions. Figure that should provide another layer of protection.
