ignore this faggot
realistically there is no telltale sign. Some people constantly look at medium for coins, you can also filter coins by volume% change in 24 hours, if volume is increasing with no price change, a moonshot is imminent and those in the know are trying to quietly accumulate

the only advice i can give you is to spend a lot of time studying and following crypto and eventually a moonshot will be staring you in the face. I found pic related when it was $3 a couple weeks ago and immediately bought a fuck ton of it when I realized whose project it was. average buy in probably $5. it's over $15 now and is probably going to hit $100 this year. You wouldn't have any clue what this was if you haven't spent a bunch of time following different people in crypto. some people are scammers and you learn to avoid them, some people literally just want all of their followers to get rich as fuck. it takes years bro, no one here can give you the information you need in a thread that will archive in a couple hours.

so what about stake dao made you want to buy in? just the creator?

Obvious uptrend, good website, good developer docs, easy to understand use cases, or something obv new and practical ideas to the defi space (like bridgeinvestements), White CEO, White CTO, community support, like legit community, youtubers - not twitter bots. Lots of trading volume - retards pumping it here and on twitter and on reddit, in unbroken/ not overly formal cut and paste English. Strong social media engagement longer than 6 months before their coin drops, etc. News stories about industry connections, it doesn't matter how tenuous it just has to be believable - like who thinks fantom is going to make money off an afghani power plant? I don't but I know plenty of people who do.

bad signs
>in-active social media - like they could have a 3 year old twitter account but only have 100 tweets most within the past 6 months etc.
>anon or brown devs
>alot of the buzz comes from people who are obv esl or low IQ
>after a post ICO big pump with no activity
>no non ICO funding
>no news stories - at all
>peace "change the world" coin by boomers/retards
>Stalled or repeatedly changed roadmap - devs have roadmaps and milestones, if they keep missing milestones they lose momentum, or change the roadmap

Also stay the fuck away from defi until you know what you're doing.

this is actually pretty accurate. by the time a coin is being shilled here or elsewhere its already too late. you need to be in it early which means you have to do actual research on the coins. also make sure you realize that you are essentially GAMBLING. this is not a meme. you ARE gambling not investing. Cryptos are not stocks, do not make the mistake of thinking they are similiar just because LOL RED LINE GREEN LINE.

Finally: DO. NOT. CHASE. PUMPS.

yes, i saw his name on the contributors page and bought in immediately and did research on it later. it's pretty solid but the real way to make a lot of money from it requires more than just buying and holding. it has a lot of inflation right now and you need to stake your tokens if you want more tokens. the vast majority of these tokens will be locked up if and when everything goes live. It's definitely risky as fuck though, the project isn't fully functional yet and probably won't be for another month or so. I fudded myself into selling a bunch of tokens at like $9 so I kind of fucked myself out of a bunch of money but I still have a lot. it's basically supposed to be an automated trading platform where you deposit coins into the vaults and it trades for you. SDT holders will benefit by getting a portion of the returns from users who deposit into the vaults.
this board is absolutely 90% pajeet scams and I would advise you to be primarily in BTC/ETH/LINK until you understand the space more. Don't even take my word on StakeDAO at face value. it pumped up to $17 today and people are selling so it might go down a bit more short term.

Ask yourself
>what does this coin do?
>are there analogs to this outside of crypto?
>how much are those analogs worth? Roughly how big is market cap of that whole industry?
>does this coin have competition?
>if so, how is it better?

All of this assumes you did enough due diligence to not get literally scammed or rugged. I can’t teach that.

anon I can tell you're probably a decent person so I'm going to be honest here. Based on your questions alone you should stick to 90% BTC ETH LINK. Play with the last 10% if you want but you have much learning to do. Those three are easy long time holds that your boomer parents will be amazed how smart you were to buy now when you talk at thanksgiving a few years from now. >I am aware you can just buy fraction of coins and not the whole thing so I could just buy some BTC for some money each month no?
My rule is I look at the history of what's going on in the coin, see how low it can go in the past couple of months, and I start considering that my price point. I am buying to hold. Then I try to figure out why a coin is soaring in price. Is it a pump? Does that make sense? BTC going up to 40k a coin is normal market activity I think, but when it crashed way the fuck down I guessed that people were cashing out to do something with those gains and it would be climbing up again. I am prepared to hold if it has a history of that volatility because I know that it will climb eventually. I don't get greedy, I just sell when it seems like it's nearing the peak and don't mind if I wind up selling on the other side because a gain is a gain.

Also, what makes you think LINK is a safe bet? Its main feature is decentralized data gathering, it feels too niche compared to ETH's inception of smart contract back in 2017. Granted I've done little research on it, just articles.

I recommend after doing a little reading on a crypto's features to check their respective subreddit and maybe some youtube videos.

You can kinda gauge if a crypto is worth it long-run if their subreddit is not filled with memes (BTC exception)

Look for a cool website, The more geometrical shapes connected by lines, the better. Next, look at the team, if they are cis normative white males get away. If they are cross dressing trannie freaks the coin is become a moonshot candidate. To finally confirm, make sure it has a huge pre-mine. If all of these things come together you've got a moonshot on your hands. Bug green dildos await, and no matter how much you accumulate you will wish you got more.
