27667838 No.27667838 [Reply] [Original]

Absolute newfag to crypto here. I made my first $1,000 and since I’m poor I’d like to protect my investment. It seems like a hardware wallet is the most recommended one. Anybody use either the Ledger Nano S or Trezor One? I’m not looking for anything super duper fancy and would rather stick to the cheaper ones to start, and if I like it I could upgrade in the future.
What are the major benefits to each? Is there any reason to get one over the other? Thanks frens.

I've tried them all. Get the cheap Trezor and only buy it from trezor.io

go trezor. i got the cheap one but now i wish i got the model T since it can hold most of them.
I'd like to hold monero in a physical wallet.

I have been keeping around $70k of crypto in my Trezor Model T for a year now without any complaints.
It's literally 100% of my life-savings and I feel confident and secure.

Consensus is in, that was fast. Thanks gentlemen. As far as the second anon, what do you mean the cheap one won’t hold most of them? Can it at least hold ERC-20 tokens? My portfolio is mostly ETH, RBC (please don’t laugh) and soon to be Algo. Will it hold these?

>> No.27668183

Say if I wanted to store my crypto 10 years would these wallets be a option or could they degrade or some shit.

Whoops I actually meant ONE, not model T.
I have the cheap one.
It's fantastic.
I hold Link, RSR, Rubic, Bao, fucking everything in it.

If it's an ERC-20 token it will, if you want to delve into other types of shitcoins get the trezor t. imo all the coins trezor one holds are the best, and you can get a multi pack of three trezor ones for the price of one trezor t

If you have an old smartphone you can download the Edge wallet and only connect to wi-fi when you move coins or sell them. That's another way to do it.
If you are over 25k. I'd say that Trezor OR two is compulsory. Make sure besides your pin you make a sub wallet with a password.
That's paranoia mode, but you'll sleep well.

>> No.27668296

>>27668183
Even if I threw my trezor into a fire I could just buy a new one and use my seed key to open it.
Funds are safeu.
They're held on the blockchain, not the hardware, it's just a way to secure it.
You can't open the wallet or send funds from it without the hardware signing it.

download the Algo app on your phone, it's the best part of the coin.
side note: i think rubic might be a p&d, be careful.

dump all your eth tokens into the eth wallet, it's comfy as hell keeping all of it in one place.

The Cheap Trezor and done. Write your words physically on sticky notes and then stick those in a book. If someone ever riffles the book, your sticky note won't fall out.

ALSO never type in your seedphrase into the computer in a password program etc.. The idea is to have a physical gap between key trackers and the transaction.

I think I’ll stick my seed phrases either in my fire safe or my dads big ass gun safe. I know he won’t fuck with it, mostly because he’s a good dad, but also because he doesn’t know what any of this shit is.
Plus I’d feel safer. His safe is one of those liberty safes that took me, him, and like 2 other guys to move in and it’s fire rated for like 45 mins iirc, so it’s not like it’ll be gone forever.

Only way to be sure without believing anyone on this board is to read the whitepaper and RESEARCH THE TEAM. Keep track of them, their updates, their backgrounds EVERYTHING YOU CAN. >Keeping your seed phrase somewhere where you keep valuables
A thief will figure out what it is if they find it.
They won't think of looking through your shitty notepad left scattered on a bookshelf and if they do they will think it's a fucking random note.
I wrote mine inside a 'half-finished letter', every so many words.
Not one fucking person is ever gonna understand what it is and if they do it'll take them forever to try out every combination of the 500 words.
Checkmate faggot thief.

the cheap trezor doesn't work with XRP, so if you plan to hold XRP get the ledger or more expensive Trezor. otherwise, i like my Ledger more.

I don't know if RBC works with them, you can check online though. I know Algo stakes automatically in my ledger, which i like- i get automatic rewards, just have to cash them in every once in a while

Yeah until you get into the one that drops 80% in a day for no reason.
Look at Skycoin. Got on Binance in 2018. It was hard as fuck to get on Binance back then.
Dropped 80% that day. On Binance.
People were buying hand over fist to get in for the Binance listing.

I made 100k off of OKCash which is an old DOGE like coin. Been around forever and just works like lightcoin. It's stable and goes up 25% and then down 25% over and over and over. Then all of a sudden once a year or two it goes up 300-500% Just like Doge and Verge.
